It's what I'm using on my vinyl planks. The mat is about an eighth of an inch thick, so it works perfectly. Sturdy, but supple.
The textured side is the one that rises.
The dimensions are as follows: 48- 59 inches X 59 inches X 59 inches X 59 inches inches. We purchased two of them for our "his" collection. Both of her computer desks are in excellent condition.
It only took a few minutes. I laid it out and stacked some heavy books in each corner, which I left up all night. In the morning, I took it out. It's very simple!

Laying flat is impossible (SEE UPDATE - These mats have a substantial thickness to them. They arrive rolled up, and it's essentially a two-step process. Unrolling them is a one-person job. On one end, I had to kneel while laying 10 pound weights along the edges. They were both purchased by me. In the last DECADE, I've only returned a handful of items to Amazon, and those may be returning soon. br>Image 1: I had to pile every heavy object I could find on top of them after I finally got them to roll out. I put them in the fridge for 24 hours. br>Pic 2 - They were rolled at the edges even after 24 hours. I attempted to rewrite the sentence. I rolled them in the OPPOSITE direction of how I received them and set them aside for the night. br>Photo 3: The mats have become wavy as a result of the "reverse roll" attempt. Awesome. br>Picture number four - Current effort: I placed weights, a bench, and a stool on top of the mats underneath my rug.

Best of luck! br>br>UPDATE (May 5, 2019): The mats are now FINALLY flat, or at least as flat as they can be. What is the solution? HEAT GUN. To begin, put a glove on your left hand and run the heat gun a few inches from the mat's surface, starting in the middle and working out to the edges. The mat will begin to bubble UP at first. It will, however, lay flat after the heat "soaks" through. Carry on like this for about a square-foot of space. Use your left hand with the glove to smooth out that area once it has cooled down, again in the direction of the edge/corner. You can do this right on your hardwood floor; it won't damage it unless the mat is completely fried. I did this on both mats, and they are now completely flat, allowing me to roll the chair across them without moving them or hitting a speed bump. br>br>I'm giving this TWO stars instead of ONE because of the time and effort it took to get a usable product.
It has no strange plastic odor and went down flat after rolling in quickly in the opposite direction. The fat guy chair glides over it with ease, and the size is ideal. br>br>As you can see in the photo, it's also quite clear, allowing the floor to shine through. After looking at dozens of other mats, I was concerned that this one might not be up to par because it was a little less expensive, but I don't think it needs to be. What a fantastic purchase!.
I took it out of the box and placed it flat on the floor of my living room. I left it there for a few days to flatten it out as much as possible. I put it in my computer room, rough side down, and sat in the middle of it, attempting to roll across it. I'm 210 pounds, and this mat is so soft that it gives, flexes, and begins to build up around the chair's rollers. My chair rollers, which are normally smooth, have scratched it up as well. I've been using my chiar on a hard wood floor for years and haven't left any marks, but it's scuffed up in less than 5 minutes. To make sure I wasn't doing something wrong, I flipped it over and tried the opposite side, and got the same results. I'm not sure I'll order another mat from Amazon because I can't confirm the thickness or durability. It's quite obvious.
This was purchased to go beneath an office chair on top of brand new laminate flooring. It is a good size, and once it gets over the odd shape from being rolled up, it evens out nicely on the floor and keeps a low profile so you don't trip over it all the time. It does get dirty, as one would expect, but as long as you clean the floor you are going to set it on first, it is easy enough to mop over it or take a rag to it when dirt begins to build up. br>br>As far as floor protection goes, it The chair glides over it smoothly, and once you get used to the slightly different feel under the chair, it's not too bad. When you need to replace it, it's simple to do so. br>br>For the price we paid, I believe this item is of good quality and performs as expected. Others would benefit from it, in my opinion.
This was wrapped in packing tape and shipped in a tight roll. It will not flatten out if you can get it to unroll and clean off the dirt. I tried rolling it inside out, laying it flat, and stacking weights, boxes, and books on top of it, but it would not flatten. I sandwiched it between two pieces of plywood outside and baked it for three days in 90-degree heat, hoping that the heat would flatten it. No luck. It's wavy and won't flatten out, and it slides all over the place. This is a complete waste of money. Spend a few extra dollars at Office Max and get the flat ones with the sticky backs to avoid the headache of this crappy thing.
Based on the reviews I've read, I believe this is what most people are worried about. I was concerned as well. Except for the very end of the roll, which began at the very center, it lay flat instantly. Is this something that bothers me? Perhaps. However, I had my suspicions when I read in one of the reviews that the material was soft rather than the harder vinyl.
