As a chair mat (47" x 59"), I purchased this item to cover my flooring, which looks like hardwood planks, because it was made of "luxury vinyl tile (LVT)" that looks like hardwood floors. A great alternative to hardwood, LVT offers a great look but is not as durable as Hence, the best course of action is to cover the floor with a covering to prevent damage from wheeled office chairs. As far as chair mats are concerned, there are generally 2 choices with regards to material and surface type. The choice of materials There are two types of PVC (1) Polycarbonate, and (2) PVC. My carpet was replaced with LVT after I used both types. The recycling bins). In the end, I got rid of it after a year and switched to polycarbonate for my carpet floor, which lasted longer for over 10 years before becoming cracked. The smooth surface UP tends to curl after unrolling when using a textured surface UP because out of the box, the floor mat was rolled up with a smooth surface inside. Unrolling it with smooth surface UP tends to leave the edges slightly curled up. There are some annoying things going on here. It seemed to "hug" the floor when I turned it over after I flipped it over. I have one last comment to make Do not unfold the mat until you have carefully read the instructions! So far I've tried it on hardwood floors and it appears to work well - I've only had it about a week. Everything seems to be going well so far. There were a few flat spots on day one, and a lot of flat spots There is a slick side up (make sure it is facing up). Although this does not seem to be a traditional use - It's for doing puzzles, but I bought it. There is a nice look to it on the floor (you can still see the carpet though) it is firm and smooth, and very firm, so you can lean on it comfortably. When I am not using it, I can slide the whole unit under the couch.

After I pulled out the box, the warning / instructions for how to safely unroll the rolled mat (printed in black and white) fell out of the box. In the blink of an eye, it popped open with my fingers resting on the sharp edges when I started to remove the plastic wrap from the center of the rolled up mat. Several fingers of mine were cut by a knife. The three fingers on my left hand have bandages. My bad, I wish I had read the warning before hurting myself in such a stupid way.

The mat was bought to protect the old hardwood floors I have. The smooth side of the fabric is on the front and the textured side is on the back. Toward the bottom, the smooth side goes. A little texture on the mat helps your wheels grip so you don't go flying off it when you push them. There is a nice variety of sizes available here, but I like the 47x59. The mat feels thick and A plastic shrink wrap protected it from damage after it was removed from its packaging. Laying the mat on the floor, pulling the end of the shrink wrap, and standing back, I examined it closely. Once the mat had reached its maximum unrolling distance, that's when it SNAPped off the roll. There was a pop from the mat. I recommend that you keep your distance and do not cut the shrink wrap if the mat is so thick, as it will rebound and may cause injury if cut. This is definitely worth checking out.

It was my biggest concern that the mat would be shipped curled, and would remain curled even when being used. Those things have happened to me previously, so imagine how delighted I was to receive the package Boxes that are completely flat and as large as a house. Because the mat is shipped flat, curling will not be an issue. I unboxed it easily and it slipped right under my chair. It seems to be sturdy and stable. In a state of utter uncurl.
