What is the ""gel's"" additional benefit? What makes a gel cushion different from a foam cushion?

The gel, in my opinion, is still cooler. Memory foam can become quite warm. The gel maintains a cooler environment where you sit. Plus, as a bonus, I have one in the car that is nice and cool, almost like an ice pack.

Is this pillow appropriate for any chair?

As long as the cushion fits comfortably in the chair's seat. Despite the fact that I use it on a hard back chair, an office chair, and a car, I believe it can be used on almost any chair, with the exception of a beanbag chair.
