There is a good amount of reflectivity picked up by the projector's front and rear IR receivers. Considering the color and the strength of the IR beam (with good batteries), I'd rate this as an improvement over the original remote. I've never been able to make it work. In fact, I was told that I should keep it and try to get it to work as much as possible. After that, they told me to contact InFocus to get my software upgraded. For Windows 7, it does not exist. There were no updates to Windows XT for this projector, which is old. Once the return window had passed, they wouldn't accept the product back since it was too late. This is a bummer because the product was never effective, but they insisted I keep trying until I eventually could not return anymore. It is not a good product to buy.

As far as quality is concerned, everything seems fine. The shipment took 10 days, but was free of charge. The quality of the unit appears to be comparable to the original. A plus is that the larger AA batteries are used instead of the smaller AAA batteries.

Despite a weak flash, the product did not control my projector, and the batteries died. When the batteries were replaced, the device began working again. There is no doubt that this is a knockoff remote because the construction and appearance are cheap but it nonetheless works.
