Questions & Answers

Is the LCD display light on all of the time or only when a call is made or received?

When a call comes in and the phone is in use, the light turns on. It switches off when you hang up.

For a senior citizen who is 99 years old and has a slight hearing loss. Phones with speakers can be heard, but they must be turned up to the maximum volume. Is the maximum volume level sufficient?

The volume is excellent. I have a good sense of hearing. I've experienced a hearing loss of hearing for some times.

Is it possible to mount this on the wall?

It is true that it is wall-mounted. The plastic bracket that comes with the product is used to mount it. You don't need a wall jack if you don't want to. As an alternative, you can connect the phone line directly to the phone. It's just another small wire to hide because you already have a power connection.

For an elderly couple, I need a simple phone with an answering machine. Is it simple to use, especially when it comes to listening to recent and saved messages?

It's very simple to use once you figure out where the buttons are. The only disadvantage is that there is no battery backup for when you lose power. I haven't found a compartment for batteries if it takes them. So, yes, this phone would suit your needs perfectly. The audio playback/calls are clear and understandable, and the brightly lit screen is comfortable to look at.

There's a phone that's connected to the wall! Who knows what they'll come up with next
5/5

There's a phone that's connected to the wall! Who knows what they'll come up with next. I can hear what the other person is saying on the phone! A phone that doesn't drop calls or have speech delays! I can't drive with this phone or I'll kill myself or someone else! Now that's what I'm talking about when it comes to advanced technology. Apple, be wary.

It was disappointing
3/5

The phone performs admirably and is in good working order. The lighted display, adjustable screen, and large buttons are just a few of the features that users will appreciate. However, there are some settings that I have been disappointed by, some more than others. br>I'm not sure what the purpose of the model number on the idle screen is, especially since the user can't change it to something more relevant or, at the very least, increase the font size of the date and time. br>I was disappointed to learn that the directory only stores 25 numbers, including the 10 speed dial numbers. I thought it was an error until I tried to enter 26, despite the fact that the caller ID log only allows for 50 entries. To be honest, I believe the inverse would have been more logical. br>However, my biggest disappointment was learning that in a dark environment, the large buttons are useless. When it comes to incoming calls, you can see the display just fine, but you'll need to find a light source first. This may be difficult to accomplish in an emergency, particularly if there is a power outage. Even if back lighting for the buttons wasn't considered, a fluorescent effect would suffice. br>I purchased this phone as a replacement and to ensure that I had a landline instrument that, unlike most cordless phones, would provide basic functions during a power outage. br>It performs this function, but the disappointments are too much for me.

When used near a modem/router, it will not work
3/5

So, I recently purchased one. We wanted to use it with our VOIP (voice-over-internet-protocol) system. When we pick up the phone or make or receive a call using the internet phone service, it sounds awful. There is a lot of static and strange whiny noises. In the midst of a crisis The shooting section of the guide says to move it away from a modem if this happens, but this is the only place in the house where we can plug it in, so I'm returning it. If it can be placed away from your internet router, it was simple to set up and is likely a very good basic phone and answering machine.

If it isn't broken, it is the ideal phone
4/5

If your phone isn't broken, this is the phone for you. The first time I bought this phone (CD4930 Black), it was defective, with no dial tone. As a result, I returned it and bought another (CL4940 White). This time it worked flawlessly, and I'd recommend CL4940 over CD4930 (though I'm not sure if there's a difference other than the color). br>br>Here are the features I like:br>1) It's corded for reliable clarity (unlike cordless)br>2) It uses AC power (no batteries) for Caller ID/Speaker/Answer machine, etc. br>3) Phone works without AC power (without above features)br>4) Volume is strong and easy to adjustbr>5) Simple, easy to operatebr>6) It has Redial, Speed Dial, and other a lit screen (easy to read)br>br>br>br>br>br>br>br>br>br>br 9) Has a built-in answering system (no need for an external system)br>br>Has a slew of other features as well. I can't think of anything this phone doesn't have, and I've read a lot of reviews here that say it's cheap and will break soon (I'll have to wait and see). I sincerely hope this is not the case, as these phones are becoming increasingly scarce. There aren't as many corded landline phones on the market as there used to be. I'm not sure why people are willing to put up with dead batteries, recharging issues, poor reception, and so on (cordless phones are terrible). You won't run into any of those issues with this phone. Everything is in working order and is trustworthy. I'm hoping that corded landline phones regain their popularity. I'd be heartbroken if they were to vanish.

It basically works and is well worth your Amazon Points
3/5

I bought this with points because I didn't want to spend any more money on an answering machine, and I didn't want to go back to picking up the phone in response to yet another robocall from the National Do-Not-Call Registry. Not- Call List is adamant about not doing anything about it. It comes with an abridged owner's manual, but you'll need to look up more detailed information online, and the model number isn't even listed in AT. T's list's agent in the Philippines informed me that this model number is only sold by Amazon, which explains why you'll have to jump through hoops to get information about it once you've purchased it. br>I despise cellphones, delayed transmissions, people talking over each other, static, calls cutting out, poor fidelity, and tinny audio, but this thing isn't much better, and I haven't figured out how to make it sound better. br>I don't like it when phones ring, especially modern phones, so I have a separate vintage phone company ding-box. Dong bells, but this machine decided to cancel the no-ring setting I spent so much time programming, so I had to redo it at least once. br>Then, the other day, I went to another room to take a call, but the CD4930 decided to broadcast my conversation in the room where it is located, and I later discovered that everything had been recorded and that it needed to be deleted. br>large and simple- for- old- person- with- poor- vision- Read the screen and the buttons. I'm guessing the orange and black are Halloween colors. br>In general, this thing works as it should, and I'm relieved to have an answering machine again after my previous one died unexpectedly. br>The CD4930 is well worth the zero dollars I paid for it.

This phone is fantastic and has a lot of features
5/5

Great phone with a lot of great features that are simple to use. Because of the electro- Due to sensitivity issues, two DECT6 bases and four extensions were removed, and a previous corded phone and this one were installed in their place. True, it's not as convenient as not being able to walk through the house while talking, but I'm staying away from the previous base stations' constant electromagnetic pulses. It's time to go for a walk and have a conversation. Simply use my cell phone, which I can "turn off" at any time.

The quality is terrible
3/5

Unusable. For business purposes, a desk phone is required. There's so much static on calls these days that you can't hear the person on the other end. I initially mistook it for a phone line and made several phone line service calls. Outside the return window at the moment. It was the phone, not the line, that was the issue.
