For the purposes of this review, I'll be comparing the Anker PowerConf to the Jabra 510, which I believe is the closest 1:1 match. a single comparison br>br>The Anker PowerConf triumphs in the following areas:
- Charging via USB cable It was a stroke of genius to include the ability to charge other USB devices. I used to have a Jabra speakerphone and an Anker PowerCore in my bag, but now all I need is the Anker PowerConf. Anker produces some excellent batteries and chargers, and this is one of them.
- The PowerConf costs approximately 33% less than the Jabra 510. Anker often has sales on their products, so I imagine it will be on sale at a greater than 33%.
- Multipoint Bluetooth technology: Multiple simultaneous connections (multipoint) are possible with the Anker. Note: It can only play/send audio from one device at a time, but switching the audio/mic from your PC (if you're listening to music) to your mobile phone (if you get a call) is far more convenient.
- Case for Transport: The Anker PowerConf comes with a hardshell carrying case, whereas the Jabra headsets all come with neoprene cases. When it's jostling around inside my bag, I feel like this adds an extra layer of protection. br>br>Where there is a tie:
- Isolation of Microphone Noise: I recorded with a radio on in the background because both speakerphones do a good job of isolating noise. My voice was clear in both recordings, and there was no background noise from the radio. Where the Jabra Speak 510 triumphs: br>br>
- Quality of the audio: When listening to music or taking a call, the Anker PowerConf has good audio quality, but the Jabra 510 sounds noticeably better.
- Quality of the microphone: While both speakers do a good job of noise isolation, on the Anker PowerConf recording, my voice seemed to increase and decrease in volume (as if I was walking away from the speakerphone and back to it - (With the exception of the fact that I sat motionless the entire time). The difference in microphone quality is not as noticeable as the difference in audio quality, but it still exists. br>br>Summary: br>br> If you want to use the Anker PowerConf, go ahead and do so.
- You're a minimalist, so the idea of storing your portable battery charger and speakerphone in one place appeals to you. Only having one device, in my opinion, is a nice way to save space (and weight) in my bag. br>- You're looking for a good less expensive option (the Anker PowerConf costs 33% less than the Jabra Speak 510). If you're looking for a wireless headset, go with the Jabra Speak 510.
- You or your clients/colleagues are audiophiles (in which case, I'd recommend the Jabra Speak 710, which has a much better speaker and microphone).
- You have other Jabra devices that you like to personalize with the Jabra Direct app. br>br>My choice:br>I already have a Jabra Speak 710, and it's going to stay in my bag (despite the fact that I'll have to carry an Anker PowerCore for charging). It's not even close to being a 1: One comparison is with the Anker PowerConf (the Jabra 710 is more than twice as expensive as the Anker PowerConf), but the audio and microphone are unquestionably superior. Many of my coworkers have Jabra 710s, so being able to daisy chain them together in large conference rooms is convenient. If money isn't an issue, the Jabra Speak 710 is a good choice. If you want to stay in the sub-$100,000 range, however, If you're looking for something in the $200 range, my previous remarks apply.

I've used bluetooth and USB teleconference devices for years, so I was really looking forward to getting this in for a review. In a series of call scenarios, I compared it to the Jabra Speak 510. br>br>**update based on the most recent firmware, which is available via the Soundcore app*
br>THE GOOD:
- The craftsmanship is outstanding. It's simple to pair, and unlike the Jabra, it doesn't try to take over your Bluetooth.
- The sound quality of the speaker is superior to that of the Jabra speaker, and it has a wider dynamic range.
- The presentation is excellent. notch.
- Most people will find the battery life adequate.
- The operation of the speaker is extremely simple and intuitive. Different microphones around the unit light up depending on where it hears sound, allowing you to see which voice is being tracked. The BAD: br>br>
- The finite level control in the volume step control is insufficient. It appears to increase by approximately 8 percent. 10% volume per click so it is either 0% volume or 10%, which can be too much, but you can not fine tune audio level adjustment. When listening to Apple Music/Spotify or Zoom calls, it uses the same volume gain structure as your device and does not provide more precise volume control. When we're not on the phone, we frequently use the speakerphone in the office for background music because we can't get it quiet enough for low-volume calls. background music for the office at full volume The volume on the lowest setting is far too loud.
- The microphones are less sensitive and quieter than those on the Jabra, but they're still good for everyday use in small spaces. rooms of a medium size For the best results, keep your distance from it at least an arm's length. br>br>After extensive testing, including the new firmware, I am pleased to report that Anker entered the teleconferencing market with some work to do, but that after a few firmware updates, they have produced a solid product that I have shared with several other audiovisual professionals who are also very impressed with its performance.
