The thing is freaking awesome, but here are some tips on how to use it! It worked great after I set it up with a USB cable, used it according to the instructions, and set it up. In any case, I wanted to change the location of the monitor on my desk, and the cable would not reach, so I went to WiFi It is at this point that you should really It is important to note that the instructions they provide do not apply to the Wireless Solution Operation of the Wi-Fi network. In terms of installation and setup, it's the same, but there's no "Document Capture Pro" software included. Epson 2 is the software you should be using instead. The format is different, but the basic functionality remains the same. I cannot take anything but good things about this scanner. It is very fast, accurate, and does not miss any Rather than selecting a folder and file name before scanning a document, I can set a folder and file name ahead of time. The program was able to run 50 pages without a.
This scanner scans fast, gets the job done, and is quiet. It can scan all standard formats (png, jeg, pdf, etc). The software is what I have a problem with. My goal was to create a scanning process that was as seamless and easy as possible for In the end it came down to the Epson ES 500W and the Brother ImageCenter ADS-200 Approximately 2800 W. Ultimately, I chose the Epson because the price dropped by $70 two days after I started thinking about it. (At the moment, the Epson is $329 and the Brother is $399). In general, the features of the Brother are pretty similar to those of the other brands, however. You can scan to destinations (such as Evernote) using shortcuts on your device. "Scan to online storage accounts - intuitively scan to Dropbox, SharePoint, Google Drive, Evernote and more" was Epson's propaganda on Amazon that convinced me that they too would offer a scan to Evernote option. There are quite a few variations on what "intuitively" means. Having unboxed the scanner, installing the driver and software (Epson Scan2), updating the firmware, and testing the whole thing, I decided to use it. While the device works well as advertised, there is no option to "send to" or "scan to" besides local drives in Epson Scan2. I finally got the Epson Support phone number (at least I only had to wait for 4 minutes). To begin with, the support agent told me to install some Epson Photo Scan software, which I downloaded and installed, but it would not Anyhow, I got that installed and yes, I can now SEND my scanned documents to Evernote, Dropbox, etc. after they have been scanned. Instead of sending the document to the destination by clicking "send to", I would like to switch to a shortcut that scans the document directly to the destination. As a result, three stars for an advertisement that is a bit misleading. Although the scanner performs well, I give it a 4 for quality. It could maybe even score a 5 if I had to score it separately. * A note about the addition A brief pause is recorded by the scanner after each blank page when blank page detection is activated. When you scan a lot of mixed pages (1 and 2), your performance, in terms of pages per minute, will be significantly slowed down. I have a video for you.
You can download and install the components individually, but after putting them all together, you require the Epson software update to enable the Abby scanning software. However, the Epson scanner software "Epson Scan 2" doesn't work, it works with ABBYY, but not with Epson. No scanner can be seen by it. Additionally, Epson Scan 2 Utilities are incompatible with this device. Since the Abby stuff lacks a copy machine mode, I was hoping that the Epson software would have one. There is no software to speak of, that I could see. This is what you'd expect from a scanner of this price point This disaster is a complete and utter failure. In general, the hardware seems to be working. Try not to scan at more than 300 DPI, though, because the scanning speed decreases dramatically. My return address is in the box below. A very disappointing experience. Here's what The Wirecutter had to say about the book.
The only time I do a review is when something really bad happens or when something really great happens. There are some really good scanners out there, including this one. Even though installing the software takes a bit of time, it is a seamless process. It seems as though it does scan 35 pages per minute as advertised, and it doesn't seem to matter if you use single sided or double sided scanning, at least not to me. Since I've been scanning at 600 dpi, I can't tell if going to a higher setting will slow it down. In the documentation and advertisement it is claimed that it will feed 50 pages, but you can fit easily up to 60 sheets of 20 pound bond. I was concerned about the fact that many of my files were over 50 pages long, and I was afraid I would end up with one volume, two volumes, etc. However, that concern was quickly dispelled. The document feeder allows you to feed your first 50 or 60 pages and then If you want or need to, you can do this until you have a 150 or 200 page pdf if you want or need it. You can take up another 50 or 60 pages and rescan them again so they get added to your pdf file. As I was trying to scan my files with my Brother All-In-One, I encountered an error message I bought one scanner and, although it did scan at about the same speed, a staple which I missed caused a jam and it was a difficult task to get the page out without tearing it up. (I'm introducing a new rule here. I never use staples in any of my files as removing staples is a pain and I invariably miss a few) When I miss a staple with this scanner it generally jams, but it is easy to clear the jam. Open the cover and remove the jammed page. Remove the non-jammed documents then close and reseal the book. The staple or the post-it note you put on the page will also stop the document feeder from scanning a post it note. You have to insert the page in the document feeder again and press Enter to get it running. I did not experience the jammed page tearing like I did with the Brother All in One, and it was a breeze to remove the jam. A feature I love is that the software rotates the page 180 degrees automatically once it has been scanned. Using the software, you can name the file and set an option to send the PDF to the desired location (I store mine on my hard drive). You can designate a destination for the file and the program will remember which location you sent it to and will usually send any subsequent documents to that directory by default or you can direct the next document, if desired. As a result of reading some reviews about the software, I was hesitant to purchase the scanner, however the software has been easy to use and intuitive. I have so far scanned about 15,000 pages and the scanner has operated pretty much flawlessly (I did not see There is only one problem I have (aside from the stupid staples I miss) and that is that on a few occasions my scanner lost connectivity with my wireless router and that sometimes takes a few minutes to fix Obtain a license. I would highly recommend this scanner as it is, over all, a great scanner.
