Questions & Answers

Ink cartridges are included in the price?

In short, yes. In addition to the printer, a set of cartridges is included. In comparison with the replacement cartridges, these one-time use cartridges have less ink, but they have enough to test

Is it possible to feed cardstock well from the tray of this printer?

It prints unusually shaped papers from the middle of the tray to the left. The instructions can be found here.

Printing photos has been a success or a failure? What kind of printer works well for both standard letters and photos? I print a lot of photos - do you have one that prints either?

The amount of demand you are willing to make will depend on your nature. It is adequate for most business needs as well as casual needs. You cannot compare the quality of this printer with one that is made for photos. So long as you do not examine them closely, the photos look good enough to snap a picture. Areas with a lot of light generally have the most obvious problem. Inks are used and droplets are not as small as those on a photo printer as everything is created using "dark" inks. A grainy appearance is evident in light areas When you look closely, you can clearly see the ink dots.

Do I still have the option to use the printer if I do not have wireless on my computer?

This printer was just purchased by me. In my case, the disease is not contagious Several wireless devices including a laptop, a desktop, and an Apple iPad 4 are available. The wireless worked with all three after I loaded them. A major surprise to me was my non-profit organization's participation in the event The wireless desktop also works as a wireless device, though it is not connected directly to a A router is connected to the printer, and the electrical outlet is the only connection to it. Regardless of which one I use, I am able to print. I love it!

HP support is awful, toner uses up a lot of power and needs to be cleaned constantly
3/5

You also need to clean the print heads on a weekly basis in order to get readable draft quality. In the 17 days leading up to the expiration of the warranty, I contacted HP service support. I was cut off repeatedly by their phone support. Within five minutes of starting the chat, the support team responded You will have to wait for a minute. Later, I spent nearly half an hour with them at their office, going through every step I had already completed to troubleshoot (I am Following that, I was questioned for 20 minutes. It was finally enough when they asked me to tell them the serial number from each printer cartridge. When I explained to the agent that I was going to pay with my credit card, HP called me back to apologize and promise that the printer would be replaced. Their real response was to send us a new set of printheads and cartridges. There's no way this will resolve the problem in my opinion.

I have lost all trust in HP because of the difficulties I had getting support when I needed it. The Brother printer is the only one I'll use.

Everything seems to be going well so far
5/5

The 30th of September 2016 update is as follows There are no visible signs of wear or tear on this printer. It was trouble free, perfect print quality, excellent print speed. There were no jams and no issues. It has been some time since I tried printing a photo with photo paper, need to do that soon.
My photo paper is now a few years old, so it is unlikely to be of any use. The new stuff needs to be purchased first. I printed out color copies (on high quality inkjet paper) of many website pages that had photos, and the results were excellent. It's been a week since I replaced any cartridges! *Starting with a rating of 4, I am improving it to 5. The package was well packaged. It was pretty easy to setup the handout. I did not like the manual very much. Using our Mac home network, we had to run a bit of trial and error to set up wireless printing. The settings had to be applied to all of the computers in order to take effect. It may be normal to feel that way, but what do you think? I had no difficulty assembling the printer. The only pieces we needed to insert were a few. My experience with the print quality so far has been a 5 out of 5. I haven't yet taken any pictures. In the meantime, I will print out a few hundred more pages and take some photos on photo paper to update you. The rate at which text printouts are produced is very quick, and that feature alone makes this purchase valuable, as our college student living at home prints out stuff regularly, and the speed and quality of the output alone made it.

I really love this printer, but I find the installation and instructions to be pitiful
4/5

A few of the printer's features include great printing. Suitable for business purposes, as it is fast, really quiet, and has a good quality. It is advised that you change the default setting from "medium" to "high" quality if you want to print photos. You will then get a decent photo that is suitable Printheads are aligned at start up, so it would be wise to clean them right after installation (through the printer web services if you wish to avoid streaks on your photos). The following are my complaints about this printer, even though I am still willing to buy it again. It is a disaster when it comes to HP documentation. To start, they tell you to first load their CD, which is the only instruction they give. HP does what they do best they load a bunch of stuff you have no use for. That experience is not something I want to repeat! If you are adding the printer through the standard "Add Printer" process in the Windows Printer Control Panel, you will find that the drivers load automatically. It is preferable to connect to a LAN via wired When connected to the LAN, the printer disables the wireless (which I wanted to do If you install your printer on a network, it will automatically use DHCP and will be assigned an IP address by your router. Your router may assign it a different IP address at random, so this could be problematic. I prefer to assign a fixed IP address to the printer rather than to utilize Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol. The printer has a fairly decent web interface (just put in the IP address assigned by DHCP into your web browser to access the passwordless web administration pages. It's time to deal with something that stinks awful. The Internet Explorer 11 program (for Windows 8 is what I use. HP's webserver in the printer is incompatible with MSIE11, so there was no way to alter any print settings on the printer. I tried everything I found on blogs about making it work, but it did not work. The printer over the web did not have any of these issues with Google Chrome and I was able to configure the static IP, email services, etc. without issue. Therefore, it would have taken 30 minutes for me to have this puppy set up had I know this information As a result, I saved myself 45 minutes, instead of the 2 hours dealing with MSIE security issues. Secondly, there is no HP bloatware on my machine, which could slow it down as well. The bottom line This printer is great. It has a good price, reasonable cartridges (still fairly expensive), a weak setup program, and no help. For configuration, you can use the printer's web interface and don't need to install any.

There are a lot of bugs in the software, and it won't recognize a newly set up PC There's nothing good about their software and you have to follow a few pro's
3/5

There are no restrictions on what can be printed with this printer. As a result, both XBox and Apple Airport display an error message when I try to connect to the internet In terms of wireless recognition, it refused to accept it. In order to do this, I have to plug in a cable and set it up again, which will take between 10 and You can go to the website and change some information then wait for the printer and computers I use, as well as the Internet connection that is coming from Apple Airport and connected to an Xbox One to be verified. If you keep your original set, you will be able to complete it faster - It's up to you As an example, let's say you get your original network name and password from a router or in my case, an Apple Airport. The software can't recognize the new set-up right away because it's really glitchy. They have truly bad software and need you to follow a stringent set of Software is really glitchy and I hate that the printer does not want to override even if you are not using one color. In addition, there should be a way to override the color and print it in black and white, or with This should have been considered by the engineers, but I guess they didn't think of The Officejet 8100 may be the first device of this line to support wireless printing, but it has limited flexibility when it comes to network setup, and certain protocols cannot be set up properly. It is a faster method of printing, so that is okay. The only thing that's annoying is that. This is the last HP printer I will ever buy. Canon and Epson will continue to be my go-to printers.
