Questions & Answers

Does the printer use a laser beam?

A laser printer cannot be used with this device.

Is card stock a viable choice for printing?

Without a doubt! With great results, I print greeting cards as well as posters on heavy cardstock all the time. It is also capable of producing beautiful results on high-gloss paper. sure to select the appropriate type of paper for what you will actually be Matching your paper source with the correct paper that you are using will give you the BEST results. In my experience, one of the tricky things is that it takes a lot of practice to get the tray placement spot on for printing on a DVD or CD, but the results are great Since I have been having my R280 for nearly 10 years, I am heartbroken when I receive a message that says "service required" which indicates that some of the parts are nearing the end of their service life. Thus, it will be less expensive for me to purchase a new printer than to purchase parts and services.

My printer uses refillable cartridges. Where can I find them?

You may have a hard time locating refillable cartridges because Epson/Seiko have built into their cartridges a proprietary chip to keep them from being refilled. In cases where businesses have attempted to fill the cartridges with more than one cartridge and bypass the chip, they've been sued by have not purchased this printer yet, I strongly advise you against buying anything made by Epson or Seiko. Other printer manufacturers not only do not object to you refilling your printer, but actively encourage you to do so.

This is what I call The CDs and DVDs are great, as well as the In the process of setting up this Epson printer, I printed a test page, a good photo, and 3 very good DVDs using the included Epson Print CD software, and the next time I powered it on, all 3 panel lights flashed together

Until the ink cartridge carriage whizzed around and sounded as if it were printing on nothing, nothing happened. My new ink cartridge was reported as empty by the software, and it wouldn't give me a chance until I broke out a new one. A second cartridge was found to be Don't try to fool me more than The solution I tried did not work after reading the manual and trying several fixes. I called Epson support (a number for R280 support is given at the back of the manual) and they told me to unplug the machine, restore the trays to normal printing position, then plug in and press the Power and Paper Out buttons simultaneously for 6 seconds to power it It appeared to be happy with this. Having returned to printing DVDs, I was able to continue to do so. I don't think there's a reason to think the unit won't go crazy again, during the system reset, if the device survives, but if it does work, then I would say it was worth the effort. It offers by far the most value for the money for a home. If you are able to run it, then I recommend you use the CD/DVD print system I found. This printer is ideal for people who like cool electronics and have trouble figuring out how to fix them periodically (like most Windows users).

Obtaining good results with the printer
5/5

My understanding of this product is not clear since I have read so many negative reviews. My Epson R280 was purchased from Amazon in September 2010 and it has been working great ever since. In order to fully appreciate this printer, people need to realize that different printers do different things and as such this one is best for printing on DVD's and CD's. There are CDs. In addition to that, I have made I with it. Designed for employees are employee badges. I did not have to replace any ink for a year and a half after adding the CISS. Ink cost $35, so the book only cost $35. I think that's a pretty good I would recommend this printer if you need or desire to print DVD's or CD's and have nice-looking labels for your movie and music collections. We can also assist if you are an owner of a small business. If you want to have badges created, you cannot afford to pay someone $100's of dollars to As for scanning, the R280 does not have that function, so I use my Canon as well. thing I would like to mention is to maintain a good working product, make sure you run a few pages a week through it to prevent the nozzles from clogging.

This printer is excellent
5/5

Now that I have had this printer for a few months, I have put it through a fair amount of testing. You're doing a great job! I have had many printers over the years. This one, however, is my favorite. The print quality is wonderful, but it does go through cartridges quite a bit more quickly than other printers. This is not the fault of the product. The installation of Epson wasn't easy for me because the program would not install properly The printer would not even print cartridges, to the extent that it would not work To use Epson cartridges, I had to purchase them. Even so, the Epson cartridges certainly make a difference in the quality of the print, so the few dollars extra for better printing are well worth it. I like the fact that it's very easy to set up and ready to start printing right away, as well as the fact that it prints straight onto CDs and DVDs. Since I am a videographer, I cannot use labels for the DVDs that I burn, because they will peel and get stuck in the future in the machines that my clients will own. wanted to add color to my DVD case case so that customers could be amazed when they opened their case. I therefore did not want lightscribe. In this regard, this printer stands out on the market. I use Epson ink cartridges and have it print beautiful colors onto a CD and it doesn't smudge after a few hours of drying time. Epson products have always impressed me in the past, and this printer was just as good as all the rest. My recommendation for this printer would be to tell others about it. This is a 5 star rating!.

If you prefer to use recycled ink, this is not the right printer for you
4/5

The printer so far has proved to be great in almost every way. My old HP 1218 was difficult to use due to driver issues. This new model is easier to use. I have only encountered one technical problem so far getting the CD tray to work. The trick is to wait until the printer is fully booted before placing the CD tray in the CD area. As long as it doesn't go to the brain You see a pretty red light flashing at you, he's dead. It is because Epson has actively sued and made it difficult for recycling centers to move ink. I score Epson a one star on this because of their active litigation. There are still sites on the Internet that sell recycled ink for this printer, at least as of now. As far as I understand, however, that will soon come to an end if Epson has their way. The single cartridges of their product retail for $20 each. I would expect that to cost about half of what I would have paid for 3 colors on The only ink I had to buy was one full bottle, and it was like buying a new printer. I find this situation to be very troubling It's worth keeping an eye on Epson's.

For the price, this is a great printer
5/5

As a result, this review pertains only to the first time I found that setting up and operating the printer was very easy. Red River Arctic Polar Gloss (and their profile) produced a photo quality print that was indistinguishable from those I had made with my Epson SP2200 (not glossy, by the way), Epson R800 and those I had printed by a professional lab. Using Epson Print CD, I was also able to create a CD label. A minor issue is that the front paper tray moves out when you open the front compartment and the cover for the front compartment came off by accident. The 100 bucks are too great to complain about. My purchase was annoyed by the fact that the seller, Ritz Camera, started offering free shipping a few days after I made the.

A Stylus Photo R280 from Epson
4/5

Epson R320, which had head cleaning issues that could not be resolved, was replaced by this machine. It appears to be as good or even better than the old printer in terms of ink use. As well as being able to buy HI-Tech products, I enjoy the idea Saving a bit more money by using cap ink. The new machine does a better job of printing on standard paper than the old one when it comes to printing color photographs. It took me a while to align the head before my photo paper print was as vibrant as it was on the 320. This, in turn, ensures that the printing is perfect.

One feature that I appreciate more than the old printer is that the ink lasts nearly as long as the old one. We print CDs on WaterShield CDs of the highest quality By using R media by Taiyo Yuden, professional results can be achieved.
