When I used this receiver the last time, it was lost, so I had to purchase it. The fact that you don't have to purchase an entirely new presenter is fantastic. It is a good value for the money. When it came to connecting the receiver and device, I had trouble connecting them on my own. I contacted Logitech's support line after trying several times. A very nice lady was on the phone with me the entire time, trying to assist me. A word of caution is that if you use a Windows product that is newer than Windows 8, you will not be able to pair your receiver with the device. This is what the lady told me over the phone and suggested that I try to pair them with another computer that is running Windows 8. The solution presented to me was unacceptable to me.

There is another company that makes presenters that does not make these available separately, attempting to force you to purchase another presenter if you lose this part.
