Westcott 5" School Scissors with Anti-Stick Coating The item 14871, Microbial Protection, Blunt, Assorted Colors, is made in China.
On a Carnival Cruise ship, I'm not sure what restrictions apply to scissors. These scissors are similar to the children's scissors sold in Wal-Mart's school supply section. Mart, Dollar General, and so forth.
The plastic packaging that these items come in comes with a storage rack, which is mentioned in the description. This piece can be used to store your scissors and keep them secure.
These scissors are excellent at cutting both paper and card stock. I don't have any felt, so I can't say for sure, but I think they'd do a good job on felt as well. We got them to put in some school bags that our church is handing out. Very safe and beneficial to everyone, but particularly children.

For shoeboxes, these are excellent scissors. OCC recommends blunt scissors for your shoeboxes starting in early 2020, and these looked bright and colorful, so I eagerly ordered! I was concerned about how well they would cut, but I was pleasantly surprised when I tried on a pair after receiving them. I even cut several sheets of paper at once with no bending of the blades or that strange sideways "cut" motion that happens when the blades can't handle a certain thickness - Something akin to an elderly man gnawing on pastrami on rye while missing his dentures. br>br>The only complaint I have is that they advertised including a "storage rack" with them when I ordered them. That's a complete load of nonsense. This isn't a shelf for storing your belongings. This is the type of plastic packing material you'd find in a multi-storey parking garage. a package of scissors (as shown in the illustration). ) Granted, I didn't order these for the storage rack and won't even need one because I'll be storing them in shoeboxes, but shenanigans it is. br>br>With the exception of the "storage rack" failure, these are excellent scissors that I would order again - Actually, I'll have to because I'm out of scissors for our other boxes. I would suggest it. If you don't need a real storage rack, this is a good option.
Both the 6 and the 10 year old will enjoy it because it is sharp and a good size. Do not rely on the "holder," which is nothing more than flimsy packing plastic! The scissors, on the other hand, are ideal for young children.
The scissors are fine in and of themselves, but the claim that they come with a storage rack is false. I was expecting a nice molded solid clear plastic holder based on the picture, but instead I got cheap packaging. Mine is already bent and leaning to one side, so I don't expect it to last very long, not that I'd want to show it off.
These scissors are not at all something I would recommend. They're difficult to cut with and even more difficult to open. During the cutting process, a few of them get caught on the opposite blade. One of the blades on one of the pairs is bent. They appear to be of poor quality, and I will have to order a replacement set from somewhere else so that my students can use them.
I was putting together Christmas shoeboxes to send to underprivileged children. I wanted to add some school supplies to the mix. I came across a deal for 12 pairs of brightly colored scissors for a little more than $8. I was under the impression that I was getting a good deal. We did, however, drop one pair on the floor by accident, and it promptly broke in half. We were unable to reassemble it. These scissors are not worth your money.
This pair of scissors has made me very unhappy. I'm a classroom teacher, so getting a set of scissors that I could easily account for by checking the storage rack was very exciting. The advertised "storage rack" turns out to be a piece of malleable plastic used to keep the scissors in place in the packaging upon delivery. I couldn't use the smushed plastic as a storage rack even if I wanted to.
I've had no problems with the "plastic stand" so far. I used these as "borrow" scissors for my students because when I returned from maternity leave, a lot of their personal supplies that I had distributed had "mysteriously vanished," along with the majority of the supplies in my classroom (sigh)! I take out the plastic stand, which they are welcome to borrow as long as they know where to return them. The clear plastic holder allows you to see which color and how many scissors are currently being borrowed.
These were purchased for the class in which I am assisting this year. So far, they've done a fantastic job. Extra scissors are available for those who cannot afford or forget to bring their own. My coordinating teacher's favorite brand is this one, and I can see why. They are both cost-effective and reliable.
