The "tyvek lined gusset" model is the name given to this item. THIS IS NOT THE CASE. Because of that description, I decided to purchase it. I did some research after receiving something that clearly wasn't what I had expected. It turns out that these are Smead 71007, despite the fact that they are labeled as Smead 71456. I'm unable to return them because they were required IMMEDIATELY for an off-site event. However, unlike the ones I thought I was ordering, they will not last the duration of the project. Because they will tear in six months, they will need to be replaced. I AM NOT AT ALL HAPPY.
These are extremely cheaply made, extremely thin, excessively flexible, shallow, and narrow in width. This may work if you only have a few related papers to put together and won't be moving the envelope. Many envelopes, on the other hand, are used when people need to transport related papers or need more space as the number of items they want to fit inside grows. For example, I needed an envelope to hold the growing medical papers from one doctor's care and transport them to the office; however, these are woefully inadequate in such cases. Also, when I tried to test one, the elastic cord snapped, rendering it useless for holding papers securely. Spend a little more to get something that will last a long time.
At just under $2, these folders are a steal. They're a steal at $0. 00 each. I primarily use them to store each year's tax returns, as well as any related backup documents, etc. Now that I have a fresh dozen on hand, I'll probably use one or two more for other financial documents, household inventories, and so on. I looked for a long time for reasonably priced folders. Some places were selling three packs for the price of twelve folders, which I paid. The only minor criticism I have is that the elastic cords are relatively thin. I'm not sure I'd fill these folders to their maximum capacity because it might put too much strain on the cord, but I'm still pleased with my purchase, think they're a good value for the money, and will likely purchase another box of twelve.
These are of excellent quality and look exactly like the ones that lawyers frequently carry around. I like the elastic band on the top flap because it keeps the contents secure inside; I'll buy it again. Strongly suggested.
The file folders themselves are fine, but the pricing was misleading due to inaccurate description. Despite the error, the vendor did not follow through on the stated pricing.
When used with plain manila file folders, these are the most effective. Place your papers in manila folders, then manila folders in this expansion folder. Ola! This is the most sought-after seat in the house.
I've been looking for something like this for a long time. And it's extremely difficult to locate the type with the flap and cord closure, which I value. The product is of high quality. Very sturdy and expands well, allowing you to store a large number of file folders in each. I strongly advise you to do so.
Because the pictures do not show it, it is important to note that this product does not have any interior dividers. I bought a few of these from Smead years ago and still use and enjoy them, especially the subdividers, which are great for organizing single sheets and receipts. I'm disappointed that these lack that feature, and I haven't been able to find any that do:.
