Questions & Answers
Hello. Speedball's linoleum cutters come in a variety of styles. The handle is not included in this item/SKU. Both the Linoleum Cutter Assortment 1 and 2 come with a handle as well as cutters. Thank you very much.
Hello, and thank you for your inquiry. Our linoleum cutters are made to work with Speedball linoleum handles.
Only 5 blades were in the box of blades I received, and four were missing.
Yes, they are compatible with all of my wooden handles. They work well with any of them, whether they have a plastic interior or are entirely metal.

There is no handle included in the box, which is about the size of a matchbox. After reading about it on a DIY stamp blog, I purchased the starter kit, which included the 4 x 6 block, handle, and two blades. A variety pack of blades is also recommended by the blog. I had no idea I'd enjoy stamping, so I decided to stick with the $9 starter kit and skip the $13 accessory kit that was recommended. It turns out that I enjoy stamping. br>br> There's something incredibly cathartic and relaxing about shaving those rubber blocks (think cuticle removal, a good sneeze, or using a q tip, because it's that good). It turned out that I needed a little more blade variety to achieve the designs I wanted. I was sold when I saw this accessory kit for half the price of the other one.
Despite the fact that the box said Speedball, the blades were not as sharp or ground as those found in a craft store.
Sigh. Other reviewers had warned me, but I had an old Speedball cutter that I wanted to experiment with new blades on. The blades are not only dull, but the edges are all rough and cut up, so the shape of the blades is all messed up by the rough edges, and it's not even that shape. The quality is extremely poor. 'You get what you pay for,' I'm well aware. But, if the product isn't even usable, why bother making it at all? I could cut with the old blade I had, so I assumed the new ones would be just as good, if not better, but they don't. It's pretty bad. I'm willing to pay more as well, but these tools appear to have no middle ground; they're either extremely expensive or extremely inexpensive. Even if these blades didn't last, I believe they could have been cut properly and started out sharp and in the proper shape.
Two of the gouges were completely useless due to their dullness. I suppose they were good sharpening tools practice.
On soft blocks, such as the SpeedyCarve, it works exceptionally well. When I used the blades on tougher linoleum, they quickly became dull. They can also become stuck in the handle, making replacement difficult. br>5 stars for soft block carving; 2 stars for more difficult block carving.
This set was purchased in order to obtain the thinnest tip possible. My other tools aren't nearly as sharp as this one. Sharpening appears to be a problem. Beginners will love it. It's simple to change out the tips, and the selection is ideal for a basic starter kit.
The larger ones are sharp, but the small details (the ones that matter) are dull.
They are exactly what they say they are: a replacement for all the gubias that come with the Speedball mango. As a graphic artist, I believe that these gubias are the best for working with linoleum (and certain types of wood) because they produce fine, precise, and soft trazos. Son afiladas, ojo ojo ojo ojo ojo ojo ojo ojo o And if you know how to affix them, they will last even longer. Recomendadas en totalidad.
