br>This is why I bought it in the first place. br>It's completely useless. And I'm in desperate need of it because I have a deadline approaching!.
I bought these to add to my collection so that I could have a handle for every blade type. They're not as well-made as the putty-colored handles of yesteryear. They're lighter and don't have as much weight to them. However, they still work, just not as well as the old-style handles did. In addition, the blades are of poor quality. The fine "V" shaped parting blade is pinched tighter than the older ones, and the sides of it cut the linoleum much wider than they should, leaving a much wider cut mark than they should. A fine blade's job is to cut very fine lines. This results in a line that is wider than the tool was designed to cut.
When carving stamps, having two handles with blades on them makes switching back and forth much faster and easier. The blade selection is the same as with the single handle, but this package includes an extra handle for only a few dollars more. Because of the convenience of having two handles and the small price difference between the two sets, I would recommend this set over the single handle set.
I was like, "Where are the blades?" at first. It's like when they put the giblets inside a turkey and you have to unscrew one of them to get to the blades.
These are good handles, and I like having several so I don't have to stop and change blades as frequently. In addition, this set comes with 6 cutting blades.
This was required for a block printing class in which my partner was enrolled. This is not a professional-grade product, but it is suitable for hobby or school-related projects. The handle is hollow and serves as a storage compartment for the extra bits and pieces. Perhaps they could make one with a larger/longer handle, as I can see some issues if someone with larger hands uses it.
Taking out/replacing the blades is extremely difficult for me. Perhaps I'm making a mistake. However, I have to wiggle the blades a lot to get them to seat [and the same goes for removing them], and there have been times when I couldn't get a blade out at all. I've double-checked my work. Even though I double-checked that the parts inside the chuck are properly installed, the problem persists.
This set appealed to me because it was reasonably priced for a first-time buyer. I'm happy to report that they're fantastic! Very sharp, and the convenience of having two handles (read: two different sized blades) was a big help. I would not only recommend this product, but I would also purchase it again if the need arises.
