Questions & Answers

With all of the less-than-ideal situations, pricey three in addition to 6- Where can I get a $20 channel crossover like this (one input, two output)?

I believe that you get what you pay for, but since I spent the money on the Rolls, I haven't done much research into what else is available.

HOW MANY HERTZ DOES THIS DO?

Yes, the frequency changes from 50 to 2. 5 khz

There are reviews that extol the low price, but I've seen many that are significantly less expensive and have more features. What accounts for such a large price disparity?

Is the power adapter included in this?

Yes, the AC adapter was included with mine. It really works. The build quality is excellent. It's what I use to split the frequency that goes to my Beringer 208d and my Vocopro 15-inch subwoofer. When the Beringer is handling the higher frequencies and the sub is handling everything below 100 hertz, it really improves the sound from my mono setup. You get to choose the cut-off point.

This device is both versatile and simple, and it performs admirably
5/5

To complement my Vocopro Sub-woofer, I purchased a single Behringer 208D powered speaker. For a simple portable sound system to use at parties or other sound reinforcement gigs, a 1500 watt powered subwoofer is included. The problem was that I couldn't separate the signals so that only the higher frequencies went to the main speaker and the lower frequencies went to the sub. My sub has a crossover that can be adjusted, but it still sends the entire signal to the main speakers. There wasn't much low-end frequency for the sub to handle because the Behringer is rated as low as 60 hertz. The overlapping frequencies muddied the sound when I increased the crossover on the sub to bring out more bass. br>br>Because I didn't want to lug around a full-size crossover, I went online and found this Rolls-Royce. I chose the mono-only SX21 over the slightly more expensive stereo SX45 version because I am only running mono. My DVD karaoke player is connected to the Rolls' 1/4 mono input, and the low 1/4 phono output is routed to the RCA jacks on the back of my sub. A mono to mono 1/4 inch unbalanced phono jack is used to send the highs to the Behringer. br>br>The crossover covers a wide frequency range, from 50 hertz to 2. Because the device operates at 5 kHz, it could be used as a crossover between a standard woofer and a midrange or tweeter in a bi-amp system. situation with a lot of volume My crossover is set at 100 hertz, which is similar to the crossover I had with my home theater amp and passive 8-inch two-way Pyle speakers PADH879. br>br>I have yet to put this new setup through its paces at a live show, but it appears to sound better than before. This weekend, I'm going to run another test to see how it sounds at a higher volume. Because the woofer amplifier on the Behringer doesn't have to work as hard to hit the low notes that require so much power, it should sound better than before. With a 15-inch woofer, an 8-inch woofer/midrange, and a 1-inch tweeter, I now have a three-way speaker. 35-inch tweeter with a total power rating of nearly 400 watts (200 subwatts, 140-watt woofer, and 40-watt tweeter)br>br>Update: 11/17/2014br>br>I've used the simplified setup a few times with the Rolls crossover. With the frequencies split and the Behringer 208D only receiving 100 hertz and above, the sound quality is excellent. I needed to beef up my rig for two events this weekend: our ski club's charity auction (with music only) and a showing of Warren Miller's extreme ski film this year at a local banquet hall. There were a few difficulties in the hall. I needed to increase the volume to cover a larger area, but not to the point of blasting the front rows. As a result, I brought my Panasonic SA- back with me. To spread out the sound, I used a Yamaha XR70 receiver and Pyle PADH879 speakers on DJ stands. br>br>Because my receiver has a second audio out, I routed that line level signal to the Behringer 208D, which I mounted on the Vocopro 15-inch sub I placed directly in front of the stage. I was attempting to use the Behringer 208D as a center channel speaker; however, it did not work out. Despite the fact that I was operating in MONO mode. Between the second audio out and the Behringer, I inserted a Rolls sx21. connecting it to the rolls' HIGH output. Because the receiver was already sending 100 hertz to the sub and the rest to the Pyle speakers, there was nothing plugged into the LOW side. The Rolls could then be set to whatever cutoff I wanted to get the exact frequency I needed for the Behringer. Because the Behringer is a powered speaker, I was able to independently adjust the volume until the sound seemed to blend into the center, regardless of where you sat for the movie. br>br>The outcomes were excellent. The sound was loud enough to hear, the bass was audible, and the vocals were crystal clear. The sound seemed to come from all over the stage area from a distance. The video was also fantastic, thanks to my shower curtain 120-inch screen and Epson 710 HD projector, which were both connected to a Panasonic upscaling blu-ray player. a player for rays Some people who had recently seen the same film at Milwaukee's Pabst Theater thought mine sounded just as good. They were astounded to learn that the screen was made from a frosted shower curtain. br>br>I decided to keep the Pyle speakers because the results were so good. It's a pain to take the receiver out of my entertainment center and cart it off to a gig, but the setup worked so well and I only do it once in a while that I figured I'd use it until it broke.

The Rolls SX21 Tiny Crossover (paired with a Bose L1 Compact) performs admirably
5/5

This is a straightforward, low-cost, and effective method. The Rolls-Royce engineers built the crossover, and they always seem to get it right. br>I'd been looking for something similar for a few years but had come up empty-handed. br>I wanted to give my Bose L1 Compact line array sound system a little more bottom end. br>Thanks to Pro Acoustics for the great deal and prompt delivery!br>br>The only features it lacks are a phase reversal knob and Lo/Hi shelving switches. br>However, it still does the job, and at the price I paid, it's a bargain. br>It's simple to operate, quiet, and doesn't seem to color the sound. br>For Compact users looking for more bass, I highly recommend this. This is how I set it up for L1 users: br>br> Bose T1 (digital mixer) Main Out to Rolls Line INputbr>Rolls High OUTput into Bose Compact Channel 2 br>Rolls Low OUTput into a Bose A1 Packlite Amplifer and two Bose B2 subs. 2 positions, adjust hi/low outputs to taste, and set crossover where you want it for your use. br>Easy.

When it comes to bass, it's a great tool to have
5/5

I was working on my bass tone and needed to separate my low fundamentals from the rest of my sound, so this was ideal. As a result, I divided my frequencies around 220hz (roughly a dial - I'm not concerned with the details here), and the lows are routed through a compressor and a Fender Bassman 100, which is jumpered to add grit to the bottom end. The rest goes through my guitar pedal board (minus reverb) and into an OR50, which I have set to a slightly gainy sound that's exactly what I'm looking for.

It's exactly what I'm looking for, and it's exactly what I'm using it for
5/5

It's exactly what I needed and what it promised to be: a perfect 24dB/octave single-ended amplifier. a second channel I use it for my bass rig, with the two outputs going to two different multi-effects processors. pedals to imitate the classic large-scale effects legendary players' biamp bass rigs and put it into a much smaller and easier-to-use package. format to be carried For weaker signals, there's plenty of gain, and the crossover leaves the sound untouched and uncolored. Perfect in every way for what I'm doing with it, though it could easily handle small to large sound systems with instrument-based sound. Signals can be easily converted from line-level to level.

In a bass rig, at least, it works
5/5

The product is being used in a big biamped rig with a Bergantino 322 top and a Carvin 18 bottom. It has a low hiss and plenty of headroom. I don't notice a significant change in tone when I sweep the crossover point (aside from the frequency shifting from cabinet to cabinet), so there don't appear to be any major phase issues at the crossover frequency. The only drawback is the wall wart, as well as the unbalanced inputs and outputs, which may be a problem for professional applications. br>br>Overall, it's a decent (albeit small!) game. For a low price, you can buy a ) crossover. For over a year, I've been using one of these to cross over a subwoofer with a Bose stick PA system. br>br>[update 2013]br>br> It really works. I wish it had a higher output gain on occasion. Otherwise, it's barely audible and does its job well. The input clip light comes in handy.

It's time to roll for the bass
5/5

This is a fantastic Bi-directional crossover. My bass rig has been beefed up. This is on my pedal board for touring and when there are truly few options available. It's incredible to have a fully adjustable crossover in such a small package that can fit on a pedalboard and still perform. I'm going to buy another for back-up because Rolls has it right.

In a small package, great quality! If you don't have much room, this is a great little crossover unit

You'll be fine as long as you use a "TS" plug rather than a "TRS" plug.

The controls are flawless
5/5

It's what I use to roll with. The controls are flawless. Before sending a bass pickup through the signal chain, I use it to roll off the highs. Let's get this party started.
