Questions & Answers

What about active and passive basses? How well would this box work for them both? The di I want to use must be able to drive What are the pros and cons of this box?

Use a passive DI when playing active guitars or basses with active pickups. Phantom Power is provided by the J48 to support instruments and devices that require it. Certainly, you do not need a PP because you are running active pickups. However, if you are running passive pickups and the tone is not to your satisfaction, the J48 could make a difference for you! It is my hope that this was helpful.

It's possible to use this with the bias grid software on my computer. Once you've downloaded Overdrive, you'll be prompted to run the ?

I utilize the J48 in this way. An instrument based on the guitar It is between The following chart shows the J48. It is between The USB interface lets you connect to computers via a USB cable It is between It is a software program. In Logic, I use amp and speaker modelling software. You can find detailed instructions on how to use this DI box on the Radial website.

What is the power source? Is it a plug or a battery?

Not at all. DI boxes depend on phantom power, which is provided by the audio mixer board, which is usually 48 volts, commonly used for microphones and other audio devices. This box only operates if the mixer board can supply the required 48 volt phantom power. This type of DI box allows you to use only the DI box, so you do not need an amp. This DI box allows you to connect your instrument to the mixer board, then the mixer board to your instrument. Simple, easy, and it sounds The bass guitar in particular.

Hello, can this box be used with a passive guitar and SSL2 audio interface? Thank you. Do I have to go for the JDI?

Powered by the mixing console, the box needs to be powered up. The SSL2 interface has a +48v switch so it must be able to operate without any problems. We have this at my church and it is the most precise and clear sounding DI box.

It is a great DI for Fender American Jazz Bass equipped with passive pickups
5/5

I picked it up because I have very quiet passive pickups and every passive DI never seems to work for me. Every time the audio crew at church used a passive DI for me, I would feel awkward asking them to pull an active one for me. I was advised by one of the guys to get my own J48 so that I can have it with me. There are some DIs available that are the same brand, but they are of much better quality than the DIs they typically have on hand. It is always a compliment to me that I can get such a great sound up at FOH when I use This amp is crystal clear, never distorted, and full of crisp notes, bringing the richness of the Fender sound to light.

DI Box that Gives You Everything You Need
5/5

In addition, An active Direct Box is used in the studio for the recording of electric guitar! Radial J48 is the device I am using. The construction of this building was excellent and the noise was minimal. I've found this to be the best one! Any questions you may have should be answered in the video.

This is an awesome DI for bass
5/5

We used one of these for recording and were amazed to hear how great they sounded. For the home recording studio, I bought one. There is a P-70 in my possession that dates to the early 1970s When I put my bass through a UAD Apollo I was not getting the low-end power I was looking for. That was made possible by the J48 to a great extent. In addition to the Avalon U5, which are excellent, I was thinking about getting the Avalon U10. It just sounds better to me this way. Now that I have become famous throughout the land thanks to my bass sound, I will be retiring to a private island very One would be a good idea for you. I guess that was a little exaggerated. However, it is still a pretty awesome invention.

I really enjoyed this DI
5/5

A list of things I need to do includes this item. This is amazing! I really enjoyed this DI. It has been on my list of DIs for some time now, but after getting another acoustic instrument and thus needing another DI, I decided to purchase As a result, I already own an LR Baggs ParaDI, a Fishman Platinum EQ, and a In the past few years, I've been using a Collins guitar with a KnK mini and a fishman amp. With some EQ work, I got it to sound good and that's what I used for a few years. The first thing I did once I got the J48 was plug my Mandolin into it (usually run through the Baggs) I was very impressed by the sound it produced, and the mandolin sounds wonderful through Basically I got the Collins and plugged it in and was truly blown away by how naturally it sounded without an My board is the Soundcraft Expression Si, which is a good sounding board, and the sound was still great when I disabled the EQ. You must have figured it out by now I'm a huge fan of the Radial J48, and I'm curious about This will be my new go-to DI. I have some other DI listed to try, but this will be the best.

It is powered by the Phantom
5/5

That sound is insane! In what way does a DI (aka Direct Box) differ from a Direct Box? A DI is basically a device that electrically isolates and transforms unbalanced line level signals (like those from most stage instruments and consumer electronics) into balanced line levels (together with unpowered lines) like those found on PAs and stage mixers used to take mic recordings. These categories can be broken down into two. There are passive DIs and active DIs. Passive DIs do not need an additional power source like batteries or an An output signal is simply the result of transformation of the input I'm going to skip the part about physics. The fees for active DI's tend to be higher and they are more complex. Compared to more expensive models, sound quality is often not as good. Depending on their level, some of these products may require additional power sources, such as batteries or "Phantom Power. ". I'll refrain from getting too physics-y here, but these are dependent on the rail voltage of the unit to keep from You will need more rail voltage if the instrument is dynamic and performs well. A rail voltage of around 9V, which is higher than comparable Active DIs, is found on this unit. Having a generation of parents who are aware of these issues is vital Electric acoustic guitars, active basses and so on are amplified (powered) because these signals can be quite dynamic to begin with. How do you need a DI?

What are the advantages? You can use an instrument or a multimedia device, such as an iPod, DVD, or laptop to create the perfect sound. You can almost always connect them to 1/4" jack, 1/8" jack, or RCA jacks that output unblanched line level audio. By using a cable adapter, these devices can be paired with the common 3-pin connector An XLR plug for balanced line-level signals, such as those on PA systems and mixers, will likely either cause a loss of signal or unwanted buzzing and humming. Phantom Power mics will immediately overpower anything using Phantom Power mic lines (and it is likely to short out your device). Other PAs may use Phantom Power mic lines and these could also cause your device to short out. You are instead going to need to transform and isolate the two halves Devices such as this one use transformers and circuitry to do Also, even if the mic line is unpowered, there is a risk to the preamp in the PA when there are unbalanced line level signals coupled Another way of saying this is. Don't wait! Buy a DI today! I will go over the The unit requires 48V Phantom power to be supplied to it over the XLR line, as it is a powered unit. The Phantom has a momentary indicator light indicating power but the light stays on for a short period of time. You get a 1/4" in and 1/4" out for passing to a stage amp on the input side. A jack can be used to convert stereo signals to mono by using the "merge" button. I find this feature very useful for multimedia and keyboard applications. The Hosa 3 I use is a version For one of my applications, I wanted a 5mm TRS to dual 1/4 in TS (1/8" stereo jack to dual mono 1/4" jacks). A "pad switch" is on the input side to switch between signals that can clip potentially dynamic signals. In the output section, you will find a single balanced XLR output (1 channel mono), a 180 degree "flip switch" to reverse the polarity for use with foreign Located on the chassis, it has a ground lift switch to isolate the ground and remove noise caused by Due to the fact that it is a powered unit and it has electronic circuitry, some additional isolation has been added to protect the signal and ensure the power supply's continuity. If your device cannot isolate the ground automatically, but you still hear noise that you suspect has ground related causes, try this trick. Lastly, this filter allows you to prevent feedback by using a low cut filter button. Approximately 4"x6"x1" in size, it can be found in a small bag. The weight is about 2 lbs. and the size is 5". This enclosure is made of top quality, solid steel to keep the electronics safe from damage on stage while at the same time creating an "EM cage" to prevent Radial has provided me with DIs in three of the past four years. It's safe to say I'm a fan of their gear at this point. DI is a professional quality unit with the reliability and sound quality tour musicians require, at an affordable price point just about anyone can afford. I purchased it to use with Italia Mondial which has an active pickup built into the hollow body and I have to say, it sounds incredible through this DI. I would recommend you look into the JDI by Radial if you are looking for a passive DI (one that does not require external power). They have cheaper models from them, but this one always sounds great no matter how you drive.

This is an excellent piece of equipment
5/5

The DI I bought is intended to be used with passive and active bass guitars and electric guitars, as well as drums. It seems to have no trouble handling the signal from my active bass and electric guitars, but I was a bit concerned that it might not however, it works flawlessly. Signal has no clipping or distortion, it is very clean. This is a simple to use software that I would highly recommend.

That is such a cool piece of technology! case, I had been simply plugging my Les Paul into a Marshall rig when I was a beginner

After that, I purchased this direct box, which eliminates all of that feedback and noise completely. It does not require batteries or AC power, so no other adapter is required. It is a very useful instruction manual (only in English). This awesome direct box is what I would love to see made all the time. This is a solid product, won't You did a great job.

One of the best direct boxes I've ever had
5/5

We have now purchased three of these for our church and they are great. If you plug a musical instrument into it, you get nothing but clean audio output. There are a lot of other DBs we have used that produce noisy sound. It has been remarked that all the guitarists on our worship band have raved about how much better their guitars sound now that we have these great direct-drive units.
