Selected User Reviews For Zoom Digital Multitrack Recorder (F2)

There is a lot of potential
3/5

It was wasted. As soon as I heard about the Zoom F2, I ordered it right away. Controls are easy to use, and the 32-bit computer is 32-bit capable A huge amount of dynamic headroom is provided by the floating point recording (including no need to adjust gain), and the small form factor results in an awesome recording! However, I am dissatisfied with the way the execution was conducted. The device will not be able to output audio files at any acceptable volume straight out of the device. To process them, you need to use a DAW program and normalize them (I used Audacity, but you can use whatever you want). However, if you record them with a dedicated recorder with adjustable gain, the sound won't be as loud as if you recorded them with a dedicated recorder. Let me start with a minor quibble Zoom, stop using brittle, breakable plastic for your battery cover. It is going to be the first to break as the door to the battery compartment opens. My guarantee is that it will happen. I have a Zoom H1n with a $20 lav mic, and the sound quality is no better. For me, this was a huge disappointment, since I've had spoiled by the preamp on my Zoom H6, so I hoped the F2 would be more like it. At least this model is better than Zoom H1n (which has a tendency to run a bit noisily). I would have preferred the F2 to come with the ability to accept other microphones as well as record inputs. The F2 would have been more useful if it had been able to charge a shotgun mic or power a condenser with 48V. I would really appreciate a phantom power supply of at least 100 volts. We cannot have everything, but they could really have made the unit more versatile without a lot of extra complexity.

There are huge potentials here with the 32- and 64-bit systems. It is possible to record in floating point with bits. There are many benefits to field recording, and you will discover that it's the future. In the event that this device is limited to only recording with a 3, this would be a problem. There is a huge opportunity lost by using 5mm input. As a final note, I will say that if you are an action vlogger (ski, bike, running, etc. ) or a news reporter thus is a nice piece of equipment It is pretty neat to not have to worry about gain or clipping with this device. If you're not interested in the H1n, I suggest you get a cheap lav mic (or an expensive lav mic). With the H1n, you can use it for a wide variety of field applications.

It is the ideal replacement for the Tascam DR-07 The Tascam DR-101 has been one of my favorites for a long time Throughout the years, 10 was a good number
5/5

It has just been replaced by the Zoom F2. The following reasons are behind my decision My experience with using wireless lav mics on sets has been ruined way too many times. The DR- was found when I In this case, 10 made complete The only way to monitor this is by using a Headphone jack was the way to go for audio levels of 10. As a result, unless you wanted to run a 1/8" cable from the pack, it was just a matter of trusting that In fact, since the F2 records in 32-bit, it does not need to monitor The float is not able to be monitored, but you can connect through bluetooth Using the bluetooth connection, you can select the recording to start or stop remotely. As opposed to the TentacleSync pack, it does not disable the 1/8" out line Therefore, you may want to use a wireless pack in addition to this solution. As part of every interview, I use two of these. On the one hand, I use it as a lav, and on the other hand, I use it as a shotgun microphone connected to a Deity D3 Pro. Besides running a 1/8" out from the shotgun pack into the camera, I also feed the camera back from it. There is only one con with this recorder, and that is that the supplied microphone is only average A Radio Shack Countryman or Sanken lav mic, or even one of the Deity lav mics will be significantly better than the one in this unit.

The BT model would have been better for me
3/5

There is poor audio quality and very little volume when I use the device. It sounds better when my mic is connected to my GoPro than this device. I couldn't find any further information on how to improve this, but there might be something I can do to improve it. In its regular configuration as a lav on my shirt, it sounds fine but I first have to raise the audio levels significantly in post-production.

- It is exactly what I was looking for
5/5

You may be wondering why. Here's why. I disagree with the negative review below. I encourage you not to review THIS EQUIPMENT negatively, if you don't like the 32-GB You can float a bit! you're just learning how to work with If you're stuck on how it works and don't understand it, then this problem is not unique to this device. Those are all 32-bit devices that you described It is possible to record on floats. The size of the card is Float recorder that stores bits in floats. This is what it does. If a car does not make good coffee, don't complain about it. 2) If you are coming here from the Formula 1, please click here. I bought three of them because I am a creature of habit. There is no comparison to the preamp, which is a massive leap forward. That's the mic to compare it with. The purpose of the form is to conduct interviews. A human dialog that is clear. There is a better way of doing it. 2) That it is the only solution on the market. Logically speaking, there is no comparison for you to make. A 32-bit processor is the only 32-bit processor available Lav recorder with float bits, but unmonitored. There is nothing like it on The time period. The F1 is the only comparison you have, so stop pretending to have something else. In other words, either you understand what is meant, or you buy it because you need it. This may be one of those things people bought just because they really needed something else but were disappointed because they weren't what they There are 32-bit values in this calculation I was interviewed for a bit float This is a recorder of audio conversations. It stands on its own. The firm is known for its expertise in that area. It is the only one in the world capable of doing Feel free to use it if you need it. I am a documentary filmmaker and photographer In the field, it is especially difficult when there is only a solo ENG reporter. However, your team needs to have one whether they have staff or not) it does that perfectly, with glorious control in post, for 9 hours of battery life.
