This is a problem for me as well. Both of my DRs are broken In the tens. It works fine when you hit record, and it says "Key Lock!" when you press it. If I stop the recording, I get the error 'Unable to stop recording'. You can only release it from this locked mode by taking the battery out.
In addition to Amazon and eBay, you can also buy just a windshield. The windscreen should be the same size as a Sennheiser lav.

This is an easy-to-use program. It does make a positive difference to have a wind screen attachment. I love the sound of the audio. With the unit set as USB mode, the unit failed to connect directly to the USB port on the MacBook Pro. For now, I will revisit the manual to make sure I haven't overlooked anything.
