Questions & Answers

Is this a country where things are made?

Greetings, br>br>The Mixpre3 II is made in Taiwan, whereas the Mixpre 6 II and Mixpre-X are made in the United States. The 10 II is built in the United States. Thank you, Sound Devices, br>br>br>br>br>br>br>br>br>br>br>br>br>

Is it covered by a global warranty or a local warranty? Where I live, there are authorized sellers, but they have all sold out. ?

If your device requires warranty repair anywhere in the world, simply bring it to a local reseller, our UK facility, or our US facility, and we'll take care of the rest!

Is there a "Gate" function built into it?

The Mix Pre Series does not appear to have a gate, in my opinion. NoiseAssist for MixPre II Series is available to buy. More information is available on the website.

Please excuse my stupid question, but I noticed it has a headphone and microphone jack, so could I use this instead of my gaming amp/DAC?

Hi James! If you want a good headphone amplifier and plan to send analog audio (microphone) into the MixPre-'s microphone port, 3 II, I think that'll do it! My only concern is how this audio will be distributed over the Internet. Preparing the Mix The 3 II is recognized as a computer audio interface, but I'm not sure how you'll get audio from the MixPre- 3 II to the rest of the world

Selected User Reviews For Sound Devices MixPre-3 II Portable 32-Bit Float Multichannel Audio Recorder/Mixer, and USB Audio Interface

Sound recorder with a small footprint that is ideal for both novice and advanced users
5/5

For sound recording, I use a Zoom 6 and a Sound Devices 633, but I also use the MixPre- 3 II because it has a small recorder that can record in 32-bit format. bit for a significantly increased dynamic range This means that very low and very high volume sounds can be recorded without having to adjust the gain, and nothing is lost; this greatly increases the data for a given amount of recording time, but I can also choose to record in 24-bit mode. If necessary, switch to bit mode. br>br>The MixPre- is a program that allows you to create your own mix. I've never seen a digital device with a better user interface than the 3 II. It's incredibly intuitive, and it's built to give you the information you need in the most straightforward way possible. Gain issues are visible when the LED illumination changes from green to red instead of the traditional VU meters, which saves space while recording without sacrificing control. The LCD display has a high resolution, and the touch screen features are well designed to allow for easy setting changes. AA or L-cell batteries can be used to power the MixPre. series batteries or by connecting to a battery pack such as the Anker 20100 via USB. The Anker is the best power solution because it fits neatly beneath the Mix Pre in a field case like the one made especially for this recorder by Strut. With 1 to 3 microphones in operation, there are more than enough inputs for ENG and general field recording. br>br>It also works with standard SD cards, which is a huge plus. My Sound Devices 633 uses out-of-date CF cards, which necessitates the use of a specialized CF card reader. Other sound recordings only work with micro SD cards, which require a special adapter to use with a SD card reader. SD cards are half the price of SD cards, which is a bonus for being able to use them with this recorder.

It's small and it works well
4/5

Preparing the Mix In terms of a recorder, 3 is a good choice. I use it in the field and find the small size to be adequate given the product's capabilities; there are similarly good but very bulky recorders and moderately good but very small recorders, and this small to mid-sized unit outperforms both. A good microphone, in my opinion, is beneficial to the cause. If it weren't for the fact that the thing eats batteries so quickly, I'd give it five stars. I ordered the Anker PowerCore 20100 USB-C Power Supply right away. Our field recording time would be severely restricted if we didn't have it. Connecting to 110 volt AC works well in the home or studio. br>br>I've only used the recorder three times in the field. If my situation changes, I'll let you know. In the end, this was a decent recorder to begin with. If you're going to use it in the field, make sure you have a reliable external power source.

Once you've got everything set up, you'll have a fantastic sound
5/5

This is a reliable performer with regular updates from the company. MY USE: I have a home teaching studio where I use an ATEM Extreme ISO switcher with multiple video/audio inputs, as well as a Blue Yeti mic connected to my MacBook Pro. And, despite the fact that I had no issues with sync while streaming, I discovered that I needed to control volume and muting through the switcher rather than the MBP separately. I needed to replace the USB mic with an XLR condenser mic because I now have six separate inputs. br> This necessitated the use of phantom power as well as some preamp power. Preparing the Mix 3II went off without a hitch. It did take some YouTube research, including learning how to use the PreMix functions and getting advice on how to set up the ATEM's equalizer software. I also used an Amazon-purchased Octava microphone. Curtis Judd's YouTube videos proved to be the most useful for the software. For those who are just getting started, I have included all of these details. When putting everything together, I knew I would appreciate any extra information (and still do).

This is a PreMix I absolutely adore
5/5

I had a Tuscan audio recorder with me at the time - I finally bit the bullet and purchased the PreMix, which I absolutely adore. It's extremely simple to use. The user interface is simple to understand. For the serious film professional, this package includes all of the necessary bells and whistles. I bought an audio bag and haven't used it in a long time. stop. I placed an order for a Sony L-Series digital camera. Because this unit consumes AA batteries like there's no tomorrow, you'll need to invest in a battery adapter. That is a significant disadvantage - However, you'll be glad you got the adapter. The sound card is installed UNDER the battery pack, which makes this unit even more difficult to use. To get the audio card out, you'll have to disassemble the entire system. This is inconvenient as well. When you're in a location that allows it, there's also a nice AC adapter. This unit comes highly recommended by me - It's fantastic.

What is there not to like about 32-bit recording, Timecode, and plugins? I used to have the original mix pre-recorded and I really liked it
5/5

This one, on the other hand, is a cut above the rest. It's a dream to record in 32 bit. There's a timer built right in. The sheer number of features for the price, as well as the sound quality, are incredible. The battery life is terrible. So, if you want to get a longer battery life out in the field, you might want to invest in an L battery adapter. It's well-made and simple to use, and you can even buy noise reduction plugins and install them directly in the unit. It just keeps getting better.

I'm relatively new to audio but trying to up my game, so I'm buying it for the customer service
5/5

I bought this unit and had some difficulties configuring it. When I contacted the firm, they were extremely helpful. They took as much time as was necessary to ensure that I was up and running. They even checked in with me a few days later to see if I was satisfied.

Quality on the go
5/5

In a small package, there is quality. Perhaps certain menus, such as the computer's USB interface, could be simplified. However, if you are considering purchasing it, there is no need to think too hard about it; it is well worth it.
