When I turned on the mixer for the fifth gig, the peak light was lit without anything plugged into the channel, despite the fact that the previous four band performances had gone off without a hitch. The channel was dead after connecting a microphone to test it. Only 2 months ago, I purchased this mixer.
Over the years, I've experimented with a number of different mixers. There are two types of high-end products: high-end and low-cost. For certain gigs, I required a small-frame analog mixer (I despise digital mixers). The Soundcraft is fantastic, in my opinion. The pre- The sound you send to those speakers is greatly influenced by your amp. The controls and layout are similar to those found on high-end Soundcraft analog mixers, but they are scaled down. Love it. I strongly advise you to go with the non-alcoholic option. Soundcraft mixers with "FX" sound effects. Add your effects as separate devices (reverb, limiter/compressor, etc. ) if you want a high-end mixer (24-channel mixer, for example). Soundcraft is also a good choice (48 channels). It'll be a great experience for you. The Behringer/Mackie mixers do not appeal to me in any way - components with a low price tag Soundcraft is the best option. It's on par with Allen's work. Heath. Both of these methods have been employed by me.
I connected it and started putting it through its paces. The mic preamps are clear and have a lot of headroom. I like how it has swept mods and a classic'British' eq. Everything was fine until the audio began to distort strangely after it was run. It came to an end after a few minutes. Sadly, the PFL functions failed as well. Replaced it with a Yamaha after reluctantly returning it. However, having a Soundcraft is something I miss.
When it worked, this mixer was fantastic! On the left stereo output, there was a lot of popping; The same noise can be heard through headphones, xlr, line, and rca out; it's a shame because it worked so well before! It's just past the return window at this point.
I'm feeding eight microphones into the Soundcraft and out to a separate digital mixer with audio interface. The recording quality has greatly improved. I'm glad I bought this board because it's very quiet.
WALL WART IS NOT INCLUDED IN THE PRICE! This is a fantastic device. Heavy-duty construction. Excellent sound quality, no frills, simple EQ, and everything is well-organized. This is a great mixer at a great price, but it isn't the board for FX. Last but not least. THERE IS NO WART ON THE WALL. Because the transformer is built into the mixer, it can be plugged directly into the wall without the brick that is usually attached to the AC cord, which I really like.
I've had this mixer for a while and must say that it's typical Soundcraft quality at an excellent price; however, I prefer to use my 12 channel USB Behringer mixer because I don't want to abuse this one. I'm sure I'd like it to go on indefinitely. The fact is, at this price point, the preamps on this Soundcraft are incredible, and the build quality is excellent. I wanted to give it four stars because I feel like I've already given it too many positive reviews. Hey, I'm a responsible student who completes all of my assignments. This mixer is one of my favorites. At a low cost, you can have snob appeal.
It's difficult to beat for the money. Of course, it doesn't have the mic PREs or the pristine faders and EQs of a full SoundCraft console, but in my opinion, it outperforms other mixers in this price range.
