Selected User Reviews For QSC TouchMix-8 Compact Digital Mixer with Bag
If the touch screen wasn't so bad, this would be a five-star review. The sound quality is excellent. br>br> br>It has a lot of processing power. br>The effects are the best I've heard in this price range of portable digital consoles. br>The microphone preamps sound great. br>With adjustable attack and release, the compressor is excellent and allows you to dial in the exact sound you're looking for. br>Because you can place the compressor after the EQ, you can really shape the sound and compress it either transparently or for effect, and if you know what you're doing, you can get an incredible vocal sound. br>br>The touch screen is a complete disaster. It's nearly impossible to select and drag a fader precisely while responsively selecting and dragging it. You'll almost certainly need to use a tablet. Worse, the on-the-job training is proving to be ineffective. I can press a button seven or eight times before the screen responds, despite the fact that I can press it repeatedly, forcefully, and precisely. I'd write a scathing review if the rest of the mixer wasn't so good for what it is. br>br>I have a Behringer X32, a Presonus StudioLive Series III, and a Bose ToneMatch T4S as well as a Behringer X32. br>br>I think the X32 has a more neutral or natural sound, whereas the Touchmix is a little brighter; however, I prefer the Touchmix's dynamics, and the effects are at least comparable so far, based on initial assumptions. br>br>Everything about the Touchmix sounds better than everything about the Presonus, including mic pres, effects, and everything else. br>br>And the Bose T4S is completely demolished by the Touchmix. This unit improves the sound of my L1 Model II/B2 Stereo pair by a factor of ten. br>br>I haven't had a chance to test the recording or USB playback capabilities, as well as the connectivity reliability. br>br>It also gets hot, so I use a USB laptop fan cooler pad to keep it cool.
Simply plug in a solid state drive (SSD) for all tracks or a USB stick for stereo mixing. You will be astounded by the performance of this board. Replaces racks of EQs, compressors, and gates while keeping everything in one place. There's no need for a menu cheat sheet because nothing is buried beneath a mountain of sub-menus. menus. For on-board use, noise levels are extremely low. filming at a location If you want to rig an outboard battery for portable use, the ac adaptor that comes with it is proprietary and offers several different plus and minus voltages. While a gas generator may not be necessary for on-site power, it is a good idea to have one on hand in case of an emergency To use the tgis in the middle of a jungle, you'll need a 12 volt, 17 amp agm battery and a mini sine wave inverter. This is a powerful board that will record all of your tracks to an optional ssd drive for processing in your favorite DAW.
Compact!. The sensitivity of the touch screen was a pain to deal with. A higher resolution is required for display graphics: RTA. For outdoor use, an LED screen upgrade would be ideal.
There's no manual to speak of. Not cool.
OUTSTANDING FEATURES SUCH AS THOSE OF A LARGER DIGITAL CONSOLE.
I bought this mixer to replace my Allen & Heath mixer. Heath ZED10 is an analog mixer that was designed by Heath. Unfortunately, it fell short of my expectations. I had the board freeze twice during testing (yes, I updated to the most recent firmware), and there is some lag when moving the virtual faders on the built-in touch screen, which is annoying. In addition, it appears that the touchscreen does not support multi-touch. If you're mixing on an iPad, you won't be able to move multiple faders at the same time. In contrast to my Allen, Heath Qu- I can't adjust the gain on a channel with an iPad on my 16 digital board (which I use for larger events). I never used this board on a gig (I'm a DJ and live sound engineer), but the issues with the interface locking up and lag when making fine adjustments made me hesitant to use it, which is why I returned it. Its internal routing options were also less flexible than I had hoped, and I was unable to configure the board to do what I desired. I really like QSC speakers; I have a pair of K10s, a pair of KW122s, and a KW181 sub, and they're all great, but I don't think this product is up to par. Perhaps software updates and a re-design will greatly improve it. But, for the time being, I suppose I'll stick with my analog mixer.
