This is a great little mixer for podcasting or basic music production. I was pleasantly surprised at how well it drove my microphone, and the overall sound quality was excellent for the price; please see the video for an accurate representation, as all audio for the review was recorded through this mixer.
Since COVID, I've been wanting to improve my video conferencing setup. We're having more Zoom meetings instead of going out to meet with customers. As a result, I decided to work on improving the quality of my audio. As a result, I chose to keep the prices as low as possible. This audio interface was the cheapest I could find that had phantom power and could be used as an audio interface for my computer. I decided to give it a shot after watching a lot of YouTube video reviews and doing some research. It's worth what I paid for it, which isn't a lot. To be clear, I run a home-based radio station with high-end equipment, so I understand the differences and find it difficult not to draw parallels. I, on the other hand, failed to return it. It accomplishes the goal. The knobs are cheap, and it's noisy, but it gets the job done. It also meets the minimum requirement for connecting an XLR mic to a computer that requires phantom power. My goal in writing this review isn't to slam a low-cost item, but rather to level the playing field. set the bar high because many of the YouTube videos I watched on the subject received rave reviews. Even if you have no experience with real audio equipment, you might be able to extol its virtues. I'll gush about the price, but that's all I have to say about it. I didn't want to pay any more, but the performance was disappointing. However, for work-related video conferencing, it is adequate. Is it going to last? That will have to wait until another time.
When I first saw it, I was blown away by the fact that it had separate mute buttons for the output and mic, as well as a dedicated USB playback fader. When the manual was nowhere to be found online, I should have known better. I should have checked to see if the USB playback is fed to the USB recording input so playback is possible. While-recording is possible without the use of a separate sound card. That is not the case. That tidbit of information is tucked away at the bottom of a printed owner's guide page. br>As for the rest of the device - The mic preamp makes a lot of noise, and the "delay: It sounds like a toy, and the channel 3/4 input requires 4dBm to avoid having to turn the volume knob all the way up to 12. br>And what about the clincher? I found a mixer for nearly half the price of this one, with the exception of the mic level slider. br>I'm going to put it in the "use as a last resort" equipment box.
In terms of small mixers, this one rivals any of the name-brand models for basic use. It only requires a smidgeon of expertise. how to get each of the settings to work, especially if you're recording the mixdown to the same computer that you're using as an audio source However, once you've got everything set up the way you want it, you can basically "set it and forget it. " " I adore how most of the settings (such as mic EQ) can be tweaked without the use of computer DSP software. I'd like to see EQ controls on the PC output channel, but if you know what you're doing in software, you can do it there.
I saw a video on YouTube about this product and decided to give it a shot. I'm not an expert on mixers, and this is my first, but they're very small (I wasn't expecting it to be so small), but very powerful and simple to use. I used it to record a microphone and a guitar to my computer, and the sound quality is incredible. For the money I spent, it's a fairly high-quality board that could fit into a good home recording setup; I'd recommend it to people who want to have some fun at home or do broadcast video.
This mixer and interface are both very reasonably priced. It's fantastic that it can be used live as well as in the studio. It's a good product, and it's perfect for the right person. Reviewing and recommending audio interfaces and mixers can be difficult. Personally, I believe this is an excellent product FOR THE RIGHT PEOPLE. If it has all of the functions you require! GET IT! br>What I consider to be beneficial:
- USB port that works with my laptopbr>- a band EQ and a second guitar channelbr>- What needs to be improved: It is simple to use and has all of the essential functions for home video recording. br>br>What needs to be improved:
- There aren't enough effects, and the delay effect isn't very useful. br>br>This mixer is great for beginners to use with a computer or laptop, and it works with a variety of software, including Garage Band.
That sounds fantastic! the PTX- 10 arrived in good condition, and all that was required to get it out of the box and running in Windows 10 was to connect the included USB cable to the PTX-100. My XLR mic is plugged into the PTX- Windows took care of the situation. Set your levels to your preference in the Sound Control panel or your mixing software, and you're ready to go. br>br>I use my setup for gaming as well as a little streaming. It is, however, wonderful. You get great sound, the ability to control the mic gain with the slider, and sound adjustment for a few dollars more than a budget usb mic. br>br>I used it in conjunction with the NEEWER NW- XLR cables with a length of 700 or more.
