It's a good non-conductive cleaner, so even if gold doesn't oxidize, dust, dirt, grease (oils from the skin), and other contaminants can be removed. br>I use this for all faders, pots, plugs, and other similar devices. Yes, it is not inexpensive, but some items are well worth the money.
A red straw was included in my package. It has an OD of 089" and a length of 4", making it ideal for shooting into tight spaces.
I do not have 100% confidence in my answer. I've used it on all of my stereo equipment and it's worked great. Jenna Labs enthusiastically recommends it for all electronics; see the recommendation.
For the past 25 years, I have worked in the field of robotics. Simply spray it on the contact point and reseat the connection a few times (it will help scrape the carbon off) to repair intermittent issues. It is well worth the money spent. If I could, I'd rate it ten out of ten.

Back then, we had a red that you used first, followed by a blue. As before, I use Deoxit first and then the gold for a deep clean, but the gold can also be used alone. I keep it on my home office desk and use it to test every electrical connection from a PC to a stereo to a car, golf cart, motorcycle, and even flash lights, and let me tell you, the flash light test works! If you use this, the flashlight will be brighter with the same batteries as before, so it must help a stereo, right? I now install pro audio and use it with a new large AV installation on every connector from XLR to RCA to HDMI, and then I try to use it once a year. Keeps things connected the way they should be and protects them from oxidation. When connected, the microphones even "feel" better. I believe this is the only product apart from my shampoo that I can give a 100% rating for the past 30 years and that I use almost every day on something ! I can't imagine using a flashlight without first spraying this stuff on everything electrical, including my outdoor and indoor light bulbs! The product is excellent!.
When I think my synths, guitars, pedals, and amps need it, or to help restore potentiometers and/or sliders, I use this. I recently needed a new can to help repair some sliders on a Roland Juno 60 from 1982. It was a cinch to use. **If you get this stuff on the inside of your rubber boots, be careful. Buttons with a contact style; It will cause the rubber to swell, causing the rubber contacts to pop out of their sockets, which you will have to replace after a day of drying and shrinking. So just keep that in mind and you'll be fine. Spraying on the back of the pot with the nozzle straw through the tiny holes is the best practice for pots.
This product has been used in the past, usually in conjunction with a D5 first pot cleaning. I purchased a Hafler preamp that, while functional, had very scratchy volume, bass, and treble switches/pots. I was using it at a dance with a big power amp because I was worried that'scratchiness' would damage a speaker voice coil at high volume. I started with the D5, which was noticeably better but still scratchy. I couldn't risk breaking one of the switches by dismantling them before the dance. As a result, I placed a Gold order. I carefully inserted the bullets into the switches, waited ten minutes, and then turned them all on. At the dance, I didn't hear any scratchiness. I usually spray a pot with D5 until it works, then use the Gold to'seal the deal. ' In this case, the Gold performed admirably where the D5 failed miserably.
For my 1994 Fender M-100, I used the CRC QD as a first-stage cleaning and flushing. Head of Chorus (80). Before starting the process, almost all of the pots were scratchy, crackly, or in and out sounding for their functions. This amp is nearly mint in appearance and sound after using the CRC QD and applying stage two cleaning and conditioning (DeoxIT GOLD Contact Enhancer). There are no signs of any of the aforementioned problems. To think, I was on the verge of sending it to the shop for pot replacements or even worse-- This Made in the USA Fender piece of history was considered for sale.
I had some QSC RMX power amplifiers pots that were making a lot of noise, and the repair guy wanted $75 to fix them. I saw this and said let me give it a try, so I opened up the amplifiers and cleaned them up, then sprayed them where most of the connections and switches are, and let me tell you it works well, I also had a Behringer Ultrabass EX1200 that I took out of my rack a few years ago, because it was causing a cracking kind of noise in my horns, so I sprayed it all over everything, the switches, knobs, and so on.
CAIG G5 or G5S should be used to treat any connector that relies on its gold plating. It improves the connector's connections and extends its life (cycles of plugging and unplugging). It works with SMA, SMB, HDMI, USB, and pretty much any other connector you can think of. Spray it on the connector's cable side, then plug and unplug a few times to distribute it. Remove any excess with a damp cloth, and you're done. br>br>I took a point off because the new "improved" spray head leaks and wastes material.
The less you use, the better. br>br>The less you use, the better it works. I usually start by cleaning the contacts with a residue-free cleaner before blowing out the switch with compressed air. After that, I apply a very small amount of this product to the switch/control and rotate or flip it. I've had this product for more than 15 years and have never had to clean or retreat a potentiometer or switch.
When I clean all of the contacts on my hi-fi equipment, I like how effective the spray is. I'd like to keep using my receiver and cassette deck from the end of the LP era; they're both very expensive to replace with comparable equipment, and with this spray, I'll be able to keep using my stereo system. The Hosa G5S is an excellent choice. 6 CAIG Deoxit Gold Contact Enhancer Spray CAIG Deoxit Gold Contact Enhancer Spray CAIG Deoxit Gold Contact Enhancer Spray After using it, I haven't heard any clicks, pops, or grinding sounds.
