Selected User Reviews For Beyerdynamic M160 Double Ribbon Microphone - Hypercardioid
My intention is to use it as a second mic on an amplifier with a high gain setting. The web reviewed and listened to many mics over the years, but I did not personally test any myself so I went with this mic. It was worth it since this mic was able to provide me with the sound I was hoping for in a two mic setup for It takes the guitar sound and adds some body, dimension, and a slightly compressed sound, which is already nice (a bit mellow on the high end), but comes into focus when paired with a Beta 57 or Sennheiser E906. I have also had the opportunity to use it for clean guitar sound, and it was my favorite single mic when I compared it to a 57, a Beta 57, and a Sennheiser E906. It has a lot of potential to be used in different applications. I can't wait to see what it does. Invest a small amount in this product.
I highly recommend this microphone. I originally played it on a cranked guitar amp, but I tried it at different distances. Despite its legendary status, the mic is still very much in use. There is a distinct sound to it if you are a classic rocker. In addition to being fantastic on its own, it is also great when paired with mics like the You can control the ample low end with the distance ( proximity effect ) to your advantage. It's also excellent for certain vocals and spoken word. When I sing it, my voice sounds soulful like those smooth jazz DJs on the radio, and believe me, I don't normally sound like that. The use of a pop filter can ensure that your ribbon mic is protected from plosives and air bursts, which are known enemies of ribbons. As a room mic, it's great for snares, drums, overheads, brass instruments, and certain types of percussion. Don't forget to protect it from objects that may damage it, such as impacts or phantom energy. There's no doubt that it's a specific mic with a specific sound, but it's Choosing this option was a very good decision for me.
A SM57 will be used in conjunction with this mic to capture close-ups of guitar cabinets. Following this, the two tracks are blended and the effects are bussed out. The SM57 on the other hand produces more highs if I blend more of it. A warmer tone can be achieved by blending a greater amount of The article I read A) he uses three mics, SM57, MD421, and M160, in close proximity, which I have tried, and the sounds are great. It's an excellent microphone and you shouldn't hesitate to buy it.
Though limited, this mic offers great sound quality Due to its coloring of sound, its purpose can be understood. If you're looking for a crunchy, thick tone from the late 1960's, this mic's great for miking an overdriven guitar amp. This mic is great for recording In addition, you can use percussion if you're in search of a crunchy, thick, In comparison, if you are looking for clarity, definition, or a balanced response through the whole spectrum, then this microphone is not for you. If you're recording with a condenser mic, it'll sound best.
I advise you to do the same. Having listened to it for the first time, I instantly fell in love.
