Questions & Answers

I have a small fear and a crush on you, but why isn't there a headphone / daw output? Maybe I'm not paying attention to the specifications. ?

I bought this because I needed a FLAT signal for my fractal pedal board; the only drawback is that there is no headphone jack, but if you're running a lot of effects through your rig, this thing is pretty awesome. Bass, treble, and volume are all very basic. A pedalboard should be used to make all of the fine tuning adjustments.

This amp's volume is something I'm curious about. Is it best for a large or small venue at 100 watts? Is it possible to use it as a practice amp by turning the volume down?

This amp isn't as loud as a 100 watt tube amp because it's solid state. It's closer to a 30 watt tube in terms of power. It's loud enough for clubs and small venues, and I use it in my studio for practice sessions. It pushes around 65 db through a 12" speaker at 8 ohms on the first setting, and 75 db on the second setting. Don't get me wrong: it's loud, but not excessively so.

Could a preamp be used in conjunction with this?

Yes, it can; I'm using it with a Mooer 008 preamp pedal right now, and it's working perfectly. If you use any amp modeling, it's ideal because the tone knobs are set to noon, which makes it very transparent. It's currently only in my home practice rig, but I've gigged with it numerous times since I've started running straight to the board.

Concerned about headroom with high-output pickups in the front, or should I be looking at solidstate?

I use Bare Knuckle Aftermath pickups, which are extremely hot and have never caused me any problems with headroom. If you set the tone knobs to noon, whatever sound you come across will be exactly what comes out. It will be much louder than I've ever required; it will blow out the windows of a small venue, and medium and larger venues will be miking you anyway. In terms of preamp, the Pedal Baby has a tone that is transparent enough to give you a lot of options. It works great with amp modelers, solid state, and tube preamps, and I originally used it as part of a fly rig. Right now, I plug in my "ampless" fly rig with a Mooer 008 (Mesa Mk 3) preamp and it sounds great; if you're traveling light and have to use someone else's cab, the tone controls let you dial in your sound for that cab.

This is fantastic
5/5

This was used to replace a Carvin V3 tube head. Because I use a pedal board and don't use the tube amp's distortion very often, I wanted something simpler. This thing is LOUD and CRISP, and it sounds amazing with all of my pedals! And simply plugging in with the clean is so beautiful and clear! My purchase has made me so happy! I'm in a rock band, and it's so loud that I've never had to turn it up past halfway during practice!.

For Helix, this is ideal
5/5

This thing has a lot of power. I've got it hooked up to an orange 2x12, and the power of this pedal means I can ditch my JCM900. It's terrifyingly loud even with the volume set to ten. It's just a loud Orange amp with nothing on it, but the clean it produces is what makes it perfect. If you're anything like me, the best clean sound is Orange clean.

This item does not appear to be "NEW
3/5

" I bought a new power amp, or so I thought. I bought a new item at full price. When I first opened the box, the images displayed were of the items I had received. Right, it appears to be brand new. The outer Amazon box was in perfect condition, which leads me to believe that the actual product box was in bad shape before being shipped out. In fact, the product box's rips and dents appear to be quite worn. I would have just bought a used one if I had known this was going to be the case. This boosts my confidence in trying out this power amp. Although the product appears to be in good condition after opening the box, I am disappointed that I paid for and received a "NEW" item.

Your setup produces high-quality, loud, and true sound
5/5

I've never heard my rig sound this good, from a Gretsch 5222 to a Pod HD, into an Orange Baby Pedal 100, through a Vader 4x12 (8 ohm), from pure clean jazz to brutal death metal. I like how the bass and treble controls allow me to fine-tune my sound, making it a little fatter and with fewer highs without having to go through my pod's eq. This one's got a lot of volume and a lot of tone to it. As a pedal or mod unit amp, the pod is highly recommended.

POWER TO THE MODS Kemper, Quad Cortex, or any other system that requires pure clean power
5/5

Pedals are your thing. This power will provide you with the pure, natural tones that your pedals were designed to deliver. My 4x12 cab has never sounded so powerful or moved so much air with such clear and amazing tones! I'm going to go out and buy another one so I can run my entire stack in stereo! EACH AND EVERY PENNY IS WORTH IT!.

This amp is very good
4/5

This is an excellent backup amplifier. It's small enough to fit in my purse. I've never heard a solid-state amp that sounds as good as this one. Although a tube amp sounds better, this amp is fantastic.

That sounds fantastic! As one would expect from Orange, the construction is excellent
5/5

That sounds fantastic! It should have been a little louder, in my opinion. It's important to remember that this is a solid-state amplifier, so there isn't as much headroom as a tube amplifier.
