Questions & Answers

Is it an ohm? Will an 8-ohm lunchbox amplifier suffice?

It's an 8-ohm speaker that'll work as long as your lunchbox doesn't have a power output of more than 300 watts.

I was hoping to do a g-mix with this and the black label. But you're worried about odd resonant frequencies with the flex 2x12. ?

Because the EV classic is so tight, don't expect a lot of bass. Consider the bass guitar as an example of a highly effective instrument.

What is the distinction between the evm12l and the black label?

Zakk Wylde endorses the black label, which is said to have better cooling and can handle more power, thus the higher price, though the actual sound difference is difficult to say. I have four of these and a dually in a half stack. They sound great with anything, but they really shine when it comes to metal. I've tried a lot of speakers, and these are hands down the best; they're a little pricey, but they're worth it.

Is it possible to get a 15-inch speaker with the EV black label?

I've never seen a 15" black label, but that doesn't mean they don't exist; go to EV's website and inquire; I'm interested to learn more.

Awesome
5/5

The speaker grill has been removed from the cabinet. br>I used four of these to make an EV TL806Q replica, which I powered with a Mesa Boogie triple rectifier. This is an incredible setup; the speakers are well-made, sound fantastic, and can be heard clearly.

Guitar Speaker of the Holy Grail
5/5

Like most guitarists, I spend a lot of time fussing over and evaluating music gear, as well as every single piece of gear that ends up in the signal chain. Finding the Holy Grail, photographing the Loch Ness Monster, or spotting Sasquatch in the Pacific Northwest are all examples of unachievable goals, but there are some gear purchases, such as amps, pickups, stomp boxes, cables, and other accessories, that can make a significant difference in tone. The EVM12L is, without a doubt, the best investment I've made in terms of improving and achieving that elusive and ultimate tone. For starters, this speaker is rated at 200 watts and can handle almost any load that a power amplifier can throw at it. It's a big, well-made speaker that's heavier than most drivers and could probably withstand an atomic blast; I only needed one 8-ohm speaker for the Thiele cabinet enclosure I used. The best feature of this speaker is that it is extremely clean and does not color or shade your voice. This speaker is made to deliver the signal that your guitar and amp are producing with precision. When I turned on the cabinet with my Fuchs TDS amp and the tiny Thiele cabinet, I was completely blown away by this principle. Being a Jazz musician is a unique experience. I was completely blown away by how crystal clear and articulate this speaker was right out of the box as a Blues-Fusion player. I've tried nearly every Celestion, Jensen, Tone Tubby, Eminence, and other speaker on the market in nearly every open and closed cabinet enclosure imaginable. Finally, my search came to an end when I purchased the EVM12L! Many guitarists, including Larry Carlton, Stevie Ray Vaughan, and a slew of others, used this speaker for a reason. The player is no longer responsible for locating the ideal speaker. amp- Combination of cabinets There are no breakup characteristics or tone-altering elements to contend with, making my rig easier to play and configure in the end. I can now trust my guitar and amplifier to perform as intended. For the first time, I can hear the difference between my Fenders and Gibsons, and as a result, I'm spending less time "dialing in" their tone. All I can say is that this is extremely effective for me. Because this one speaker does it all, I now have a whole collection of cabinets and speakers for sale.

I think this is the best I've heard
5/5

I recently bought a black-faced Fender Tone Master Twin Reverb and loaded the Fender 'Blond' software. It sounded fantastic, but I was curious as to how it would sound with the EVM12L installed. I used the EVM12L in conjunction with a Celestion Gold 12 inch 50-watt parabolic reflector. The Tonemaster cabinet houses a pair of watt Alnico speakers. It's absolutely amazing. This is the most beautiful guitar sound I've ever heard. Original - Original - Original - Original - Original - Original - Original - Original - Original - Original - Original - Original br>I was skeptical at first, but now that I have one, I can confirm that it is as good as everyone claims. I've experimented with clones, Creambacks, 15" guitar speakers, Organic Timbre, and a variety of other products. It produces a rich, precise sound. It sounds fantastic in both quiet and loud environments. I set it up in a two-by-two configuration. One side of the 12" cabinet is empty, while the other two sides are filled with Acousta- Inside the grill cloth frame, Stuf Polyfill and a 1/4" thick 5" diameter foam beam blocker were tack stitched. There's no need to break in the sounds because they're sweet and smooth. There's no harshness in the highs or mids, and the bass is proportional to the rest of the frequency range. This guitar speaker has a fantastic sound.

Easily outperforms the stock Mesa Black Shadow
5/5

Install the Mesa Combo Mark V 1 x 12 in the Mesa Combo Mark V 1 x 12. I just finished replacing the stock black shadow 12 x 1 speaker in my Mesa Boogie Mark V combo with the ev 12L Zakk Wylde edition. The stock Mesa boogie black shadow is blown out of the water by this EV 12L. Lower end is tighter. mids and highs that sing The stock speaker now sounds like it's broken. There aren't any blunders in this. It's pricey, and my entire setup now weighs a ton.

This is a workhorse of an uber speaker
5/5

This is the most pure speaker I've ever heard, and I'm running it through a 50 watt amp, so it's barely breathing at maximum output. It sounds especially good in a Deluxe Reverb with 22 watts of power. What you put into it is what you will get out of it. In addition, given its power handling capacity, it appears to be indestructible.

Great orator
5/5

I know. They are costly, but after decades (decades! ), they are well worth the investment. What an idiot) of putting up with the stock Fender speakers in my Rivera Concert amp, it was either get one of these or switch to a boutique tube amp for my sonically wonderful archtops. This is the option I chose. As a direct plug-in replacement, it's simple to set up. There is no need to be concerned about power. An voila. The amplifier now has a fantastic sound. My guitars have a great tone to them. These are unbeatable for a clean sound that allows you to hear the guitar. The speaker was fantastic.
