Questions & Answers

I don't want any extra noise in the signal chain, so is it passive?

Except for volume level and switching audio sources, it is passive, meaning it does not add or subtract to the audio signal. It's basically a switch box with a decent volume knob. Unless there is already noise in the signal going into this controller box, it does not add any noise to the signal. This is not due to Behringers' fault, but rather to a poor audio source. Your power line must also be clean; poor voltage can result in audio noise, as well as a faulty power ground.

Is it possible to connect an external preamp to this device, and if so, where should you connect it?

This appears to have a built-in preamp. You can either feed passive speakers through an external power amplifier or feed active speakers directly. This unit functions as a hub and is stylish. This upgrade to my system is fantastic.

How big is it?

5" x 8. 25" x 4"

Is this suitable for use in a music studio as an audio interface?

Yes. It's for controlling your studio's various audio outputs to your monitors. It communicates with your computer via a USB port. It lacks a microphone preamp, however. If you want to use a microphone and control it through this unit, you'll need to add a preamp or a mixer with mic inputs.

I was expecting something a lot less
5/5

Let's face it, the name Behringer doesn't exactly conjure up images of high-end gear. Because I already had a Dangerous Monitor ST in my studio, I had very low expectations for this Behringer unit. I simply needed a way to change between two sets of speakers. When I compared the price of this to a Mackie Big Knob (in any of the three flavors), I figured it was worth a shot. I braced myself for a letdown. Wow, was I ever mistaken. To begin with, this device is quite large and substantial. It's quite substantial! There are numerous ins and outs, and it appears to be constructed in the manner of a tank. Wiggle the knobs side to side to see how loose they are, as this indicates board mounted pots and overall cheapness. These are quite good, I must say. It's connected to two sets of powered monitors, with my UA Apollo acting as Input 1. It was dead quiet! It does exactly what you'd expect and at an unbeatable price. It also appears to be in excellent condition. My only suggestion would be to show the location of the pointer in the sexy lighted ring or at the very least have a white engraved line so we can see where it is. However, this isn't a deal-breaker; rather, it's a missed opportunity to improve an already excellent product. Listen, for the $149 I paid for it new, it's an absolute bargain. None of the problems (noise, etc. ) have ever occurred to me. ) that a few other reviewers mentioned in their comments. Built to last, it looks great and performs as expected, with plenty of routing and in/outs. It's a no-brainer. Just go for it!.

Killer Appliance = Studio Control PLUS Interface
5/5

I had to replace an old, broken Samson C- control. I'd had it for a long time and had taken the input from this to out to that, as well as the headphones, for granted. I experimented with everything I had on hand, from small mixers to Y cables to old M-connectors. Interfaces for audio over USB 1 (Audio USB 1). Having worked as a Behringer representative in the past, I went to their website to see what they had to offer. I read the reviews, looked over the specifications, and decided to purchase it. For getting audio into my computer, I have a Tascam 2020 with a Behringer AD 8 lightpiped to it. When I don't want to fire up all of that to listen to a mix or try out a new piece of software, the CONTROL2 comes in handy. I can connect lines from my live rig, my software, and a guest's pedal board to it and hear them without making a big deal of it. To catch a jam, use headphones, monitors, a DAW, or even a stereo pair of headphones connected to a Zoom portable recorder. This item is well worth the money and the space it takes up on your desk. Dual headphones, balanced inputs, input trim, decent meters, and talkback. Quiet and devoid of color. It was exactly what the doctor had prescribed. If you need to keep track of your final ins and outs from a sub-contractor, This is the box for mixing consoles, practice rigs, or a random analog pair from the room. br>I like the big knob, but I think all that finite adjustment for a pair of monitors is a gimmick, just between you and me. Unless you can hear a tenth of a decibel or don't notice clipping; br>This is a fantastic product that does exactly what it promises and allows you to move around your studio with ease. In addition, it can serve as a secondary (or primary) USB I/O port. For a buck and a half, to be precise. This is the one if you know what you're looking for.

It's all about the money
3/5

The large volume knob is a nightmare because it is the focal point of my studio; the knob is made of light-weight, cheap plastic that has no weight to it. The knobs on cheap car stereos are better. A nice metal knob and more friction when turning would have been much better. You can get by with it, but every time you turn the knob, you'll wish for something better. Because everything else about the unit sounds good and is well done, it reduces the unit's quality to one star. There is also no mark to indicate where you are on the volume scale, as everyone else has said. I'm very disappointed, but I'll keep it because I can't afford the nicer units, and you get what you pay for. Unfortunately, my knob is also defective; when turned up to 1 o'clock, it makes a scraping sound/feel; I can't wait for it to be replaced.

It appears to be in good condition
5/5

Sounds good to me. It's even enjoyable to be around. Set speakers to the same volume, switch from one set to the next, or have them all on at the same time. It's simple to set up and operate talkback. Because the Talkback mic is built into the unit and isn't elevated, I figured it wouldn't be worth a damn. but. Actually, this isn't the case. You don't even need to lean in if the talkback volume is turned up. Use the asio4all driver with a DAW and USB, as well as any interface. It's absolutely incredible. It's almost as if the price isn't accurate. At this price point, I had somewhat low expectations, only to discover that I was mistaken once more. This controller is one of my favorites. ☺️☺️☺️☺️☺️☺️☺️☺️ if you I looked at a lot of different brands and found that while they all cost about the same, they all cost about the same. At four times the price, their lack of features is incomparable. If you're looking for a unique way to.

Depending on your needs, it's good up to a point
3/5

I bought one of these Behringer units to see if it was better than the similar active Mackie Big Knob I have. The problem with the Mackie is that I don't like the way it tracks the first 30 degrees or so of rotation, and the L unto R channel levels on the "big knob" were off by 1/2 to 1 DB at low volume settings. After 9 p. m. : It's fine and evenly distributed at 00 travel on the knob. br> Because the Behringer unit uses a VCA to control the large knob, tracking was very accurate. However, the volume controls for both front panel headphone outs are terrible on the Behringer unit. The knobs have a sloppy feel to them, and at low levels, they are both intermittent. By comparison, it has no mic level preamps, only line levelbr>(I was aware of this and did not require mic in's) and the headphone pots were a deal breaker for me, so I returned the unit.
