Questions & Answers

Is it possible to connect this to an amp via a line-in (no microphone)? in)? Or do I need a special adapter?

You can use an XLR (female) to 1/4" (male) transformer/adapter; it'll work best with a mixer/amp that has a low z input (XLR), but any amp with clean output will suffice in a pinch. If your amp's input isn't 1/4", the male end of the adapter must be the same size as the amp's input. XLR inputs are found in many bass guitar amps, as well as nearly every acoustic guitar amp. I made a bunch of adapters out of old guitar cables that I cut short and soldered an XLR connector on the bare end; all you have to do now is tie the extra ground wire on the XLR (pin 1) to the 1/4" (pin 3) negative pole. A transformer provides the quickest transition from low z to high z but as long as all of your gear is properly grounded it isn't 100% necessary.
Edit: I'm assuming you're referring to a preamplified amplifier. If you're talking about a power amplifier, the answer is no; it wouldn't have enough gain without a preamp.

Is there any way to undo this? By flipping it over, you can wear it with the microphone on the left or right side, depending on your preference. ?

In the headset, the microphone boom rotates. The mic is set for the left side in the picture, but if you move the mic upward and flip the headset over, the mic will be adjusted for the right side.

Are the black round things on thistyopeheadset speakers or just pads to make thistyopeheadset more comfortablei?

Hello. They're cushioned pads that help keep the headset in place and make it more comfortable to wear. Thank you for taking the time to learn more about our company.

Selected User Reviews For Audio-Technica PRO 8HEx Hypercardioid Dynamic Headworn Microphone, XLR Connector

For Dragon, this is an excellent microphone
5/5

As a Dragon user, I'm well aware that the environment and microphone can make all the difference in the world in determining whether Dragon is a blessing or a curse. I've used a wide range of microphones, from low-cost headsets to $300 boom-mounted condenser mics. I changed to a Shure wireless microphone about two years ago. When it recently stopped working, I decided to give this less expensive wired option a try. I'm using the number one. 8" terminated version (Amazon refers to it as "Terminated for PRO88W") with an Andrea Electronics USB-C cable All of this is connected to a late-model computer via a high-fidelity external digital sound card. Apple iMac 27" Retina 5K with a 4 GHz Intel Core i7 processor, 32 GB of RAM, and a 1 TB internal SSD model. br>br>The results of using Dragon are incredible. This Audio Technica microphone is by far the most accurate I've ever owned, and with the current incarnation of Dragon software, there is a significant improvement in accuracy over the Shure microphone. By the way, Audio Technica claims that it comes with two foam windscreens of different sizes. The bag contained only one item. It was clear that the bag had been repackaged.

Great for speech recognition and most voice communication applications, but connects to a device with caution
5/5

This microphone performs exceptionally well with Dragon speech recognition software. Being a dynamic microphone is one of the more difficult aspects of the job. Dynamic microphones don't need a bias, don't have an internal amplifier, and produce signals with low amplitude. The majority of consumer electronic products have a microphone input that expects an electric condenser microphone, which has a tiny preamp built into the microphone capsule and produces 10 to 50 times larger amplitude signals than this product, so you might be disappointed if you just buy this microphone and plug it into whatever equipment you have. However, you will be very pleased if your equipment is designed to work well with a dynamic microphone. br>br>In terms of sound quality, when compared to vocal microphones, which have a larger diaphragm and are not as sharply directional, the voice lacks the warm quality of a vocal microphone. You might want to use an equalizer to tweak the sound quality to your liking; the flat output from this microphone isn't as thick as what people expect from a good vocal microphone. br>br>Despite the fact that most electronic devices expect an electric condenser microphone for speech recognition, podcasting, voiceover, and other speech communication applications, one reason to use a dynamic microphone for speech recognition, podcasting, voiceover, and other speech communication applications is much better ambient noise suppression; in particular, this hyper cardioid microphone is sharply directive in its sensitivity. For my application, I'm very pleased with this feature of the microphone.

I figured out how to tighten it up: Bend it slightly, as if it were a paper clip
5/5

There are no instructions for using the microphone. There was an issue with me: It was like a vise grip on steroids, and it was WAY too tight. My first attempt to solve the problem was unsuccessful: br>br> I stretched the metal band overnight on the width of the Amazon shipping box, but the mic was still too tight the next day. Then I came across a simple solution: br>br> The headband is steel, and if the headset is too tight, simply bend the metal in the middle of the band slightly, doing so slowly so as not to overstretch it. br>br>It now fits like a glove. I'll try it out and report back on the accuracy, but it's supposed to be very accurate, so I'm looking forward to using it without the constant vise-like headaches. (Perhaps a note about how to adjust the band should be included in the box. ).

The Focusrite 2i2 3dGen Audio Interface has a great microphone, but the headphones do not work
3/5

I have this mic/headset, which has a single female XLR connector for vocal input and an audio output through the headset (apparently through the same connector). I got a call from a musician who wanted to use the Pro8Hex with a Focusrite 2i2 3d Gen, which has input ports 1 and 2. However, neither port on the Pro8Hex returns audio to the headphones. My headphones have never bothered me because I listen to music through monitor speakers, but my music buddy uses headphones. Audio- Technica should release a compatibility document outlining what specific or types of equipment the Pro8Hex can be connected to while still receiving good mic input and output through the headphones.

Its performance left me completely "awestruck
5/5

" I frequently employ my "fail-safe" strategy. safe" SM- 58 - I've been using it on gigs for the past 15 years. I'd seen a lot of different mics for higher prices, so I decided to give the Audio-Technica one a try. Technica PRO 8HEx is a hexadecimal representation of the word "he Its performance had me completely "blown away. " Even though I had to adjust the EQ on my amp head to accommodate the new mic, the rest of the experience was fantastic - In particular, for "live" performances. I didn't want a wireless (battery failures - blah blah blah blah blah blah blah bla and hidden costs) system due to the cost and unnecessary RF equipment. In the end, It's fantastic! I've walked away from the SM- I've had 58 in my "bag of stuff" for two gigs now and have grown accustomed to it. br>br>I wish they would paint it flesh tone rather than black and keep the ridiculously low price.

AWESOME noise-canceling microphone that can be used for a variety of applications, including computers
5/5

This is a fantastic noise-canceling microphone that can be used for a variety of applications. It's widely used in the radio broadcasting industry. There is no self-noise because it uses a dynamic mic element. Because there is no built-in pre-amplifier, there is a lot of noise. amp. Because dynamic microphones do not produce as much noise as condenser microphones, they require a good pre-amp. amp or gear with dynamic microphone preamps (e. g. , higher- gain). Dynamic mics are less likely to clip on loud noises and have a wider dynamic range than condenser mics. br>br>A cardioid pick-up is also included in the mic. It'll pick up what it's pointing at (hopefully your mouth) rather than what's around and behind it because it's in an up pattern. It's ideal for use in noisy environments as a result of this. People say it's not compatible with computers, but that's only because it has an XLR plug, while most computers have 1/8" mini-jacks. jack. An adapter is available, but an external USB audio interface is recommended. I've been using a Tascam US-based microphone for a while now. This adds up to 366, which is a fantastic combination.
