Questions & Answers

What is the quality of this keyboard's construction, both the body and the keys? Thank you very much! ?

To be honest, it's far superior to anything else I've come across. The keys on the A300 are of much higher quality than the keys on other keyboards. Other keyboards have a cheap feel to them, whereas the keys on the A300 are of much higher quality. The body is heavy, but that adds to its strength.

According to what I've read, the keys on this keyboard are slightly narrower than those on full-size keyboards. sized. Can anyone confirm this, and if so, is there a playability issue?

The term "shorty keys" was used incorrectly in one comment. These are standard synth keyboard keys; perhaps the person who complained about the "short keys" was looking for piano-sized keys in a Synth.

Is it weighted in any way?

It isn't weighted in any way.

Is there a Cakewalk CDROM included with this keyboard for studio software? GuitarCenter's other online specials include it! ?

As of 12- This keyboard originally came with Ableton Live Lite in 2015, but I'm not sure when the software was updated.

sturdy, with just the right number of keys
5/5

I don't understand why this isn't more widely known. Low-cost, dependable, and sturdy, with just the right number of keys for portability. I'm very particular about what I spend my money on, and I return roughly twice as many items as I keep, but I'm very pleased with this. br>br>I brought this keyboard with me on a 3-day trip. In my (soft) checked bag for a month, I took an 8-country tour of Europe and Africa, protected only by the two styrofoam end-caps. pieces of packaging, one layer of cheap bubble wrap, and some clothing (as seen in the photos). It's still in 100% perfect condition (and so is the styrofoam) after being thoroughly used for 3 months, and after dozens and dozens of plane, train, and automobile ride, most likely% br>br>The pitch/mod stick combo is fantastic. I can't imagine using separate pitch/mod wheels now that I've played this. The keys are excellent, the pads are excellent, the knobs and sliders are good and offer just enough resistance, and the inputs are all on the left side, allowing you to connect it to your laptop directly. The keyboard is held in place by rubber pads on the bottom. The buttons in my DAW were simple to program, and it works perfectly with the Yamaha FC5 sustain pedal. One thing to keep in mind about that is that Sustain appears to work, but it does not appear to be recording live sustain into my DAW. It's possible that something went wrong due to user error. I haven't done a thorough investigation into this matter. This isn't a major issue. br>br>I'd tried Akai, Arturia, and M-Audio in the past. I was unsatisfied with the audio. The Arturia Keylab 49 is a nice unit, but it's a little too big and heavy for my needs. In addition, the Roland's pads are significantly superior. The Roland pads are more responsive, whereas the Arturia pads require a lot of force to activate. br>br>Akai does not have anything between a 25 and a 50. a 49-key (too small to play properly) and a key (too small to play properly). I wasn't impressed with the feel of the units I tried (they weren't portable), and I didn't like the look of them. The keys and the pads are there for you to use. Everything was spongy and cheap. M-br>br>M-br>M-br>M-br>M-br>M The audio quality appeared to be adequate, but the only options range from 25 to 49 keys and offer very few features. I thought the Axiom Air Mini 32 was a good value at $100, and it's ultra-portable. Despite the fact that it was portable, I returned it and replaced it with this Roland. br>br>Other than sustain- The only issue I have with pedal recording is Roland customer service (which is eager to help but lacks knowledge) and the instruction manual. br>I'm a person who prefers to be told what to do. I tried exactly as instructed to change the settings/programming to work with my DAW (Ableton Live 9) and nothing worked. An hour on the phone with Roland was ineffective as well. They recommended that I take it to a music store with my computer and have it fixed. What is the solution? Don't pay attention to the instructions. It's as simple as plugging it in and playing it. That's all there is to it. At least, that's how it works with my digital audio workstation (DAW).

If you get a good deal, it's fine; I bought it for the faders (B3 controller!)
4/5

), positive feedback, and the Roland moniker. In general, it's a good film. I'm much happier now that I got a new unit at a reduced price; at full price, I would have most likely returned it - See the table below for more information. br>br>Advantages - There are numerous knobs. faders. Both a sustain and an expression pedal have their own ports. MIDI commands and profiles can be tweaked and customized. Except for the issues listed below, it's a well-made product that performs admirably. br>br>It's small and light, so it's easy to take with you. Although it can operate on USB power, I recommend purchasing a power supply to ensure that the midi output signal strength is adequate. It's designed to work with DAW software, and I had no trouble using it to control Reaper (Windows 10) and a variety of virtual instruments. br>br>Perhaps a convention? The keys are made of light plastic and are small in size. Springy action is a key feature. It's not bad, and it's comparable to other low-cost keyboards, but it might not be your cup of tea. Because of the difference in key size, I have some difficulty switching from piano to this keyboard; the lack of a weighted action isn't the issue; finger placement and muscle memory are. Because the keys are so small, I find myself playing high up on them, changing my leverage. After a while, I got used to it, but you'll need to practice a lot to get the hang of it. Of course, unless you're used to using smaller keyboard keys. br>br>Like many others have said about this keyboard, the after-sales service is excellent. Beyond midi tweaks, there are dealer or DIY hardware adjustments that appear to resolve the issue, but from the factory, after-market after-market after-market after-market after-market after-market after-market after-market after-market after-market after-market after-market after-market after-market after-market after-market after-market after-market The sense of touch isn't very useful. br>br>The unit is lightweight and small, with non-sticky feet. As a result, it easily slides away from a stage stand. I used grip tape on the arms of my stand, which greatly aided me. br>br>As I previously stated, if I paid full price, I would most likely return it and shop elsewhere. But it's a keeper because I got a good deal on it. For the price, having all those controls right in front of you is extremely satisfying. br>br>Better adjusted after- This model would have benefited greatly from a touch screen and a second Midi out port.
