Questions & Answers

We are looking for a sampler so we can play loops live. It could be a choir piano or strings on a keyboard or a Is this enough to accomplish your goal?

In 404SX you are allowed to play loops, but its appeal is that it prohibits you from playing other effects. a bit of a headache to play with loops when you record them in perfectly. you can adjust the start and end points after you record them, but it is not quite intuitive. there are some artifacts that are introduced when you speed up or slow down samples. This is why you ought to buy this if you want to make your own Dilla Donuts or Madlib beats. You should avoid it if you're looking for an affordable way to run The following should be of some help.

To play sound bites and complete songs during breaks during sporting events, I am looking for something to play. Is it possible to store and play songs in full?

This can be done, as you can store songs in each pad and play them continuously.

Do you have any suggestions for alternative midi controllers that I could use to trigger the samples?

It is possible to hook up your " USB " midi controller to your computer, but it might not be the easiest thing to do. There may be ways to get around this, but it will require the purchase of a lot

My headphones have a 250 ohm impedance. Will I be able to use them with my SP404?

There is a high likelihood of this happening.

I still love it even though it doesn't seem to do anything that I thought it would

There aren't enough words in the English language to describe how wide of a gulf I am in understanding what this thing can accomplish. It has always been my dream to record a low-fi album It's possible to record on the thing, but the fact that you can't record an input while anything else plays made that impossible (I ended up buying a workaround to get around that obstacle. is a very limited but also some what amazing thing. My original purpose in purchasing this was more for its sequencer than its drum machine, but I actually like the sequencing for making perfect loop beats or resampling for looser beats that you have to play with in order to get them to It is man-made Want to add a lot of layers without using a laptop as part of a band arrangement. This is the first time I've chopped samples, but I really like it. To make it sound good, you need to learn the instrument, but that generally holds true for My method for recording with the TASCAM DP-180 was to purchase a TASCAM DPA5000 and record from that ), so I use my synthesizer, and then I go to my 8-track You will be taken to the 404 page. From there, I can play along to the beats / samples I trigger from my 404 keyboard, and it will be recorded into my 8-track The output on both was run to an amp with two inputs), and after recording my music, I play it back and record it on my The system does not work perfectly, but it gets the job done. If this part makes sense to you, or if you were thinking about using the 404 in the way that I thought you could, hopefully this will be of help. It might be best just to get an We can track the 404 and not worry about it.

Just a little 'heads up')

This can be a real blast to play and experiment I actually think it's very good! If you want to get the same effects individually or using multiple devices at a time It would cost nearly twice as much to buy an effect pedal as it does for the SP 404sx. When you use the included software to load samples onto the SD memory card, the process is very straightforward Many people find it to be 'irritating' or 'difficult,' regardless of the When creating your samples, you must list or name them properly in order for the process to go It is curious that MIDI can operate You can definitely connect this sampler to a music DAW or to a tracker and use it that way, as a drum pad. You may use a module or a class. I created a set of Mellotron sounds and laid them out over the two first banks, and then I played it as a Mellotron. You can load chromatic samples onto it and use your MIDI keyboard to play it. to be able to do the same with Optigan and other devices of the same nature When used in conjunction with an Optigan or Orchestron, looping and gate functions would be particularly valuable. A body part (or even one underwhelmed by I agree that the effects themselves are impeccable, but the implementation is not so great. My understanding was that an effect was applied to one part per time. The word 'part' did not make sense to me for some reason, since I had thought it meant 'bank' - The term literally refers to the number of parts in a As a result, I will follow this Are you saying that you can have different effects on each pad? Not at all. There is only one effect and one As well, there was little explanation of how to set the MFX to 'reverb' on any reviews or videos online I found, so when I first played with the 'digital Mellotron' for the first time. It surprised me to realize the effect could only be applied to one pad at a time. My common workaround (which, at the time, I thought was for using two effects on one sound) was to move the sound to a new pad and use 'resampling'. It would work, but then when the gates close, you would have an interference problem In music, when you release a key or an electric pad, the reverb trail is abruptly and harshly cut off. However, a single pad can only be used at any time on the effects. . There are a few things that keep it from being a 5 The fact that I can use it with a Korg Kaoss Pad doesn't hinder my enjoyment, but I would like effects that bad, I will use it with a star device.

I like how simple and effective it is

You need a case to prove Unless something goes wrong, everything is fine. This program is very easy to use and has a powerful feature set. With 120 of them on here, you can change their volumes on the fly, clip them if you made a mistake in your DAW, or move them around to work for your show. It's easy to set any sample to play continuously on a loop, once, or only while you're holding down the button, so you can do transitions with the button. Lastly, I would like to thank you for your support. There will be no latencies! I'm so glad!.

The line out jacks have a bad hum
3/5

No matter how much or how little the pad was played, a really loud hum would come out of the line out jacks on the first unit. This one has a little less hum than the first one, but a $400 machine shouldn't have any hum. I don't think it's a power supply issue. The hum can be concealed a bit with my mixer, so I'm keeping it. In addition, if you are using the software for jingles, sound effects, etc. , it is important to be aware of the fact that there is no STOP PLAYING button. If you want to stop a pad from playing, you have to hit the cancel button 4 times very quickly in Once again, this is good for making beats, but not so great for live shows. I'm not sure where Amazon is sourcing these, but one would expect in a case where they came from Roland USA, the manual would be in English, but as many other forum posters have pointed out, the manual is in Chinese and Japanese. The first Roland sampler I used for 15 years, the Sp202, was very reliable, but it had an odd memory card and not enough memory. So in truth, I'm disappointed with the "new" Roland sampler, but it uses standard SD cards that are hidden in the sampler. As the image shows, the SD card is just hanging out of the front of the sampler to illustrate where the card slot can be found.
