Questions & Answers

This machine has been improved by the latest update?

There is a yes and a no. If you own a Nexxus 2 or a 1000nxs then yes, as far as DJ Link is concerned. The 16th step was the one where the note dropped out. There has been a fix for that. But still, there are still a few bugs. Also, adding effects has no effect. I'm not sure what they do, but there are settings that you can access. For me, this is not the case. I really enjoy working on this machine, though, like most drum machines on the market, it could use more attention from Pioneer and more updates are definitely necessary. The xdj rx has been bought especially for me in order to use it as a start and stop point for samples. I'm still unable to do a DJ link. I've been waiting forever, too, for DSI to do something with Tempest. It is still just a lie that I will be able to do what I was sold. As of now, only multitrack recording is available. It will come to that The possibility exists. I hope so. It will take all of them just a few days to complete updates. You can do it or you can't. At this point, who knows.

For live sampling, would this be the best? Or the DJS1000?

You're free to do which ever you want. I was going to add a DJS1000 to my 3 deck set up and make it a 4th deck myself

In order to record the master output into an audio interface, how would I do it?

It is possible to use 1 and 2 together In addition, you can separate things into groups and have some things go out of 1 and 2, others out of 3 and 4, and some out of 5 Six, the others seven and eight In some instances, you might want kick and bass to come out of one output, all effects to come out of another, and all vocals to come out of another, and so on.

The idea box and the instrument are really great
5/5

My favorite thing about this sampler is tracking with it. There is a really good sound quality in the outputs. As a former MPC 3000, I would consider this to be a modern sound. It's also nice to have the prophet 6 filter built into your samples to add more character. Only 4 bars and 64 steps are possible on this machine. In the past, you could switch up your ideas with pattern switching if you worked with limited equipment. Simply because of the sound alone, how the grooves get captured with swing, and the ease in which single events can be deleted on the fly, this is truly a performance tool. It is one of the few samplers that let you use the stock sounds in the program to write songs, which you can then track into your In the hands of experts, this is a pretty superb machine. Compared to an MPC Live or Maschine +, however, this instrument is more limited.

A groovebox is not what we're talking about here
3/5

I love the sound quality, but the sequencing software is awful. The sound quality is incredible Another level of effects can be found with analog technology. In fact, it is an absolute disaster when it comes to I hope you have a successful career. You may only be able to use it for finger drumming, but for this much money? Since Pioneer hasn't released updates since 2016, it's difficult to trust that they'll make up for it. Overall, it's a real shame because the hardware is so well built. My previous Roland MC-155 product did not meet my expectations, so I returned it, and got the Roland MC-189 instead Rather put 707 in place of 309. It would probably work equally well with a Novation Circuit or Digitakt.

It is just a matter of purchasing a laptop with Ableton installed
3/5

The Pioneer company promised many updates, but they have been absent for over a year now. If you're going to spend that much money on a laptop with Ableton and a launchpad, you are MUCH better off buying one.

In a world of electronic music production dominated by mediocre performers, this is the worse of those two
3/5

An introduction in a few words. Recording and performing artist, I am an avid gear nut. My gear collection includes everything from a large modular synth system to an audio interface like Pioneer did not give me this product to review, and I bought it with the intention of performing. I have been opposed to using laptops for live PA performances for many years. It was reported nearly a year ago that this would be a modernized MPC (since Akai had apparently lost their mind and decided to require a computer in order to run CMC) that linked flawlessly with original Pioneer DJ machines. In one of the simplest, most straightforward ways possible. The answer is yes. Here are some nice things I want to say Despite its responsiveness and accuracy, the pads feel pretty solid. Seeing as how the filter is derived from Dave Smith's line of unique analog circuitry, it isn't surprising that it is exceptional. Pioneer's higher end preamps sound just as good as their higher end line, and even the distortion that results from "clipping" is not too bad. Mutes and chokers are easy to assign to groups. It has quite a few different TRS outs. The unit itself seems like it can survive quite a few outdoor festivals and Spirit Airlines baggage claims. While most of this is awesome, it's pretty meaningless considering everything else that's going on. If you're coming from the world of MPC or Octatrack, you'll soon find that there is very little depth within a few minutes of turning on the computer. As a beginning consumer, I fear there are fundamental limitations that even a sampler half this price shouldn't have, such as its inability to load 48 kHz There was a limit of 32 seconds for loading samples. To use the USB drive, I had to arrange the file structure to the device's standards instead of being able to browse the The effects are limited and uninspiring if you dive a beat deeper. Instead of sending everything to individual channels if you wish to add reverb or delay, you have the option of sending everything to one. Samples are not taken live in any way. A sample cannot be triggered by an Currently, there is no automatic retraction The grid relies on its own sloppy sampling this is not sampling of samples Each sample has a certain number of bars that can be determined by the user. Changing this information is possible, but if Toraiz decides your 130bpm sample is 167, you will need to change it. It can only be changed to 130 if it is 5. There is no option to change the decimal for 5 without changing the bar (this could become a major problem with more than one It's not possible in the menu to assign MIDI controls for more convenient access to certain functions after making these changes. You need to save a new file after making these changes in order to use them for the session you currently have running. Toraiz lacks depth, which is fine for a DJ who has no knowledge of sampling, but if you're new to sampling, you might not find this as impressive as it could be. If you are paying $1,500 for your track, that depth shouldn't just be expected, it is a requirement since the track is $300 more expensive than To be honest, I'd much rather sit in front of a $400 Korg Electribe Sampler than this, because there is so much more to do on that instrument. The MPC is far from what this is. A 10% Octatrack is not a 10% A stem cannot be played nor can a track be cued. Given that Akai moved its MPC line away from strictly a drum machine, I'm really confused as to why it's still on the market, especially in light of the void left by the move The gear used for outboard motors. I would describe it as a $1,500, large version of a sampler that is built into DJ systems already with a touchscreen. As a DJ, a live PA performer, or a producer, I can not think of a workflow where that is required. It's very clear, if you have ever used a sampler, that this will not accomplish your objective. You're likely able to sample loops or load audio in your existing workflow on a device in this price range if you're a DJ spending money in this price range. The touch screen is definitely an incentive, but it is very unresponsive. There have been instances where I had to press a button more than twice in order to get it to register, and certain elements require you to type or press a tiny X before they close. Sitting on my couch is a challenge. It would be a real pain in the buttocks to have to do this on stage. Possibly the firmware has been released early and it will somehow become desirable after a year's worth of updates. It is my hope that it is.

In addition to a spectacular sound quality, the latest OS update makes it that much better
4/5

Secondly, I will mention two points. As far as this sampler is concerned, everything is going well. Now that Akai has entered the market, there is greater competition As Pioneer takes this instrument to the next level, I anticipate they will do even more to improve it.
