I've used Squier products before and was happy with their quality and performance. This item, on the other hand, was a disappointment. Fit and finish is merely adequate; it is not bad, but it is not up to par. The tuning pegs, for example, are misaligned, string tension does not remain constant, and when the key is turned, there are hard and easy spots as the peg rotates, not smooth as it should be. The Epiphone was noticeably better than an Epiphone at a comparable price point. The sound is OK, not great or bad, just OK. Overall, it was a letdown of a purchase. I was under the impression that Fender products would be superior.
I bought the guitar as a gift for my son-in-law. Took up the guitar for the first time and is eager to learn how to play. The guitar will need to be completely set up when it arrives. To put it another way, trust rod adjustments were required simply to make the game playable. It even includes an Allen wrench for making the necessary adjustments. If you are a beginner, it is not worth the money because you will most likely be unable to set it up. I have experience and was able to set it up in a couple of hours. I've had the guitar for about eight months, since April. When I first got it, I didn't notice much because I assumed it was a problem with my technique because it was the first guitar I'd ever played. When I play each of the six tuning pegs, however, I hear a horrible rattling sound. The peg is still movable with my fingers even with a string attached and the peg pulled tight. I tried tightening the screw beneath the casing, but it wouldn't tighten any further. The gears are deteriorating and morphing, and there is no way to fix them without replacing all of the tuning pegs.

The guitar is fine, but I get the impression it isn't brand new. The abrasions on the head, a heavy scratch on the neck, and a piece of corrosion in one of the strings (not visible in the photo but visible in real life) are all visible in the photos. The guitar was well-packaged when I received it, so it's unlikely that these were caused by shipping or handling. I'm not sure where the scratch in the second photo came from. It's possible that someone returned it after playing it for a while. br>As for the guitar itself, the sound and feel aren't as good as other guitars in the same price range that I've tried. Because I'm still learning, my intuition may not be correct.
