It is not a complaint as far as the instrument is concerned. I really like the finish and the fit of the guitar. I also like the sound. I like how evenly everything is distributed. The planes are made of spruce, maple, and what appears to be black ebony solids. Having said that, I do have one complaint the way they packaged it in As a result of the strings being loose, the bridge disappeared. The top of the piece was still protected from the tailpiece by a small piece of paper. A frog landed on the bow, causing it to slide around inside the case, and there are several small dent marks on the wood of the viola from the impact. In any case, I'm keeping it. Despite the dings, I like how the finish has sort of a "distressed" look, but it could have been packaged.
The sound of the viola is great, it is at least two to three times louder and clearer than the low end CVA-series It is a very positive development for me. I have two complaints about the viola First, the strings are worthless, and second, I tried to tune the first string, and it broke before I reached the pitch. This instrument comes with an extra set of strings, which are better quality than those that came with it. It also was not able to stay fitted to the viola, the shoulder rest would loosen and fall every time. Fortunately, she had an extra. I am happy with the quality of the bow and the case.
Easy to play and beautiful sounding, this viola is a great purchase. Viola is easy to set up by yourself, and it seems as though the sound post is placed at just the right spot to add the best tone.
