A product from Protec is excellent, and this one is no exception. The bells are perfectly centered over it. From 4 to 8 inches are the diameters of the bells on my trumpets Additionally, I did not detect any significant difference in the sound coming.

The bell didn't really need to be facing away since we sat outside with plenty of space between players and bells facing the ground

There is no need for it. This seems pretty cool, except that you have to pay $10 instead. As an alternative, I would simply place a mask over the bell and use a rubber band to secure it. It was a gift from my mother.
