Questions & Answers

For tenor sax does this work?

I believe so. I have never had a problem with it!

For cleaning the alto sax, does the cloth come with a weight or do I need to attach one myself?

A weighted system is in place. I have never purchased a better cleaning system.

What kind of instructions are provided for someone who is just starting out on alto sax? All the contents of the kit are unknown to us. ?

One of the smallest pieces of fabric is to dry out the insides of the With a smaller pull through swab that has weight on it, this tool is used to dry the neck It is most important to dry out the body of the sax with the large swab. Follow these instructions drag the swab through and out of the smaller opening in both the neck and horn after dropping the weight on the swab into the larger opening. Please be aware! Do not pull too fast! Check for snagging and STOP as soon as possible if it hangs use the string on the other end of the big swab to pull it out in the same direction you put it Pulling on the swab too much will cause the tissue to break. The swabs often get stuck inside the bore if they crumple up. To get it out, a woodwind repairman must be able to avoid scratching the surfaces inside the pipe, and this is VERY IMPORTANT. It is important to have wrinkles out of the swab and to get it neatly shaped before you push it through the tube with the least resistance. round fabric on one end of the big swab is attached to a metal frame. Drop the bell of the horn (the end with the rim with the belled-out rim) first, and then the weight and cord. Drop the weight into the slender end of the cord and drop the cord into the hollow end of the bell Place the bell after the material has been draped down into it neatly. The cord needs to fall freely through the long part of the tube, out the top end of the saxophone, so make sure you're not cramming too much fabric into the curve at the bottom of the horn. It will spill out the top as well as the weight, so turn the horn upside down and shake it until it comes out the top end (where the neck goes through). You can then gently pull that through the horn so that the condensation is distributed evenly on the inside so that the horn will dry more quickly. An example of a microfibre swab is shown here. You cannot wipe the inside of this like cotton swabs, but it doesn't need to be that dry. In the case, the humidity inside will gradually increase by the process of evaporation. The pads will dry out evenly and slowly, which is good for them. Play to your heart's content! It has been 47 years since I began playing saxophone and teaching it. Playing this instrument is a lot of fun! Hope you have a great time!

For bari sax, does the swab work?

It would not seem that there would be a problem with an alto sax, since their bodies are made similar to each other. You should remember that the cotton swab appears to be not silk but cotton.

This is insufficient
3/5

Neither the weight nor the length of the cords on the main cleaning cloth are adequate (not heavy enough nor long enough), and the main cloth itself is not large enough to accommodate Although this cleaning cloth can work, it takes a great deal more effort to use it than it ought to This shape might be okay, but it would not stand up to a traditional square or BG style.

There is too much thickness in the string
3/5

There is too much string and not enough weight at the end of the string. Trying to shake my instrument to make it come through almost damaged it. I've never been able to easily pass through it, particularly when wet, so I have to clean it regularly. As if it were a shoelace. Once I had gotten it through, and went through a wash, there was no weighted end to be found! There is still a lot of grime on it after one cleaning and it needs to be cleaned. In order for these things to pass through an instrument, they need to be able to withstand being washed and be thin and heavy enough. I returned to my hotel after being very disappointed.

I only missed a few pieces from the kit, but it is otherwise excellent
4/5

I think it does an excellent job for such a large swab. It's nice to have the neck swab and mouthpiece brush to help remove plaque from your mouth. It may be best to discard the reed case, thumb pad, and strap next to the reed Do not trust your expensive horn to a cheap plastic neck strap or your expensive reeds to a cheap plastic case. In any case, the swabs continue to make the entire kit well worth it. While it is a bit gaudy, it is a really good choice.

This is a cleaning kit for alto saxophones
5/5

The cleaning kit I bought was excellent as a whole, and I am quite satisfied with its contents. To get moisture out of pads and away from them with the Sax body swab, a weighted pull string on both ends, and the right size to pass through the body without getting tangled, worked great. Similarly, the swab for the mouth and neck pieces was also of just the right size to remove water buildup in the mouth and neck pieces. I found its weight to be just right to make it easy for it to go through. In the event that grease builds up in your mouthpiece, the little brush might prove useful. To help hold on to, the thumb rest cushion can also prove useful to young hands. Also, the cleaning cloths can be used to reach small areas that are hard to reach. A rubber finger on one end of the detailing brush is used to help me reach tight places. The brush on the other side is used to gently push the rubber finger. That is the set I recommend to you.

The product has excellent absorption and is easy to The value of the product is fantastic, and the interface is very user-friendly
5/5

When used two or more times, the swab stays soft and absorbent. After a long session, a wet sax can be messy, so a pull string at both ends of the swab makes it easier to clean it. It is not possible to get all the way through the neck of an alto sax with a large swab. If you want to clean the neck, you need to remove After placing the swab as far in as possible, let it sit for a few seconds and then pull it out again. It is not necessary to work with a small swab.

This is a great tenor sax piece! There were two sizes to choose from and the clothes are excellent! It is the perfect size to clean the neck of my tenor and the original cleaner I had for my sax ended up stuck in there ( but I got it out eventually) but this cleaner fit just right and went through
5/5

It was a great price for a nice saxophone case. The gig bag is the right size for the saxophone body! The thumb rest is not really needed, but otherwise, it's a nice little case.

A lot easier to use than I expected! After one has used the sax they should be able to find no problem in the kit including everything one needs to remove moisture
5/5

I like how easy it is to use and how well it works. It is still necessary to purchase pad dryers to keep the pads clean and dry, however this method works great for getting moisture out of the mouthpiece, neck, and body of the sax.

As advertised, this piece is not compatible with the tenor sax body
3/5

In accordance with its advertised description, this product is useless. There is no room for it in an Eastman 52 Street tenor, which has an average body size. I liked the quality and color of the swabs. I thought the extra items were useless and of low quality, cheaply made materials (throw them away). My intention is to return this product in a timely manner. This is not a good buy if you want to keep your instrument clean.
