Hand washing is fine, as long as the water is relatively warm. I put it in one of those mesh bags for delicate items and washed it, but it was a little noisy and probably not good for the washer.
5 x 4.5 inches Palm size is about 75 inches long.
It has a thick felt-like texture to it, but it is extremely absorbent. The Clarinet is completely dry after using this method.
In clarinet, it does not become stuck. Does a decent job. Because it is inexpensive, I use two. One of the three I have has the cord and swap separated.

When I misplaced my swab after relocating, I went straight to Amazon to find a quick and inexpensive replacement. To be honest, I must not have paid attention to the details in the descriptions because when I received the swab, I was taken aback by its size. It's just as well I bought the cheapest swab on Amazon. However, I'm more annoyed that it doesn't properly dry my clarinet — after a lot of practice, the swab quickly becomes saturated and leaves a lot of saliva behind. The substance isn't particularly absorbent. If you want to dry your instrument thoroughly, I recommend investing in a better swab at a higher price. br>br>If you're playing a plastic instrument, it's not such a bad investment. It's inexpensive and eliminates the need to purchase an expensive swab. If you have a wooden instrument, such as my R13, however, you should avoid it.
They've always been a waste of time. I use them to lubricate my wooden bore and I love them. That, however, is oil spreading, not condensation absorption. They are neither soft nor absorbent. Please do not purchase this for your child if he or she is in sixth grade beginning band. They are entitled to a higher standard. Take a cotton fabric swab and apply it to the affected area. It's also inexpensive, but it's so much better. I'm a true believer in the power of positive thinking. live conductor of a middle school band This isn't something you should buy!.
Unusable. My wife, who is a professional clarinetist and uses a Selmer Signature, is completely dissatisfied with this product. Her clarinet would be harmed by this swab: The swab is rough, and it's attached to the string with a metal vice. out of control This is something you should avoid buying.
For the record, I did purchase a cloth type swab from my local music store not long after purchasing this one (I prefer cloth type swabs), but I had intended to use it as a bore oil swab for my backup clarinet. It was so captivating that I'm only using it for the purpose for which it was designed: as a backup clarinet. I might add, at a very reasonable price.
Although this is a good low-cost option for cleaning an instrument, if you're a professional musician, you should invest in a higher-quality instrument cleaner. It served its purpose for me and I didn't have any problems with it, but it doesn't absorb nearly as much as the title suggests. This one, on the other hand, will suffice if you're looking for a cheap and effective way to clean an instrument. It has been working for about three years and is still in good condition.
Terrible swab Very small, and does not resemble the swab pictured. It's flimsy and made for a low price. My daughter, who also plays the clarinet, claims that it does not work well. Shipping was also an issue for us. DHL delivered it to our house on Thursday, October 15th, according to the receipt. We received it via USPS on Monday, October 19th. Save your money and don't buy this overpriced piece of felt! It was a complete waste of $4.
I was expecting a "real" clarinet swab, but all I got was a cheap piece of felt half-a$$ clamped to a piece of string with a weight on it. The sting isn't even long enough to swab the entire clarinet without taking it apart, and the tin clamp is only halfway through the material, so I doubt it will last more than one or two uses. I understand I didn't pay a lot for this, but it's a waste of money.
You're wasting your money if you buy this, regardless of how cheap it is.
