Since the orchestral strings were a few dollars cheaper, I went ahead and ordered them since I needed a new set of strings a month ago However, I usually use helicore hybrid strings, but I ran out of them a few days ago and needed a new set I am much happier with the orchestral strings than with the hybrids, if I may say so myself! Compared to my old ones, they sound better on my bass, and I didn't need a break in period. I put them on, played a half hour later, and they were ready! There is a possibility that your mileage will

It's been 3 months since I bought the Shen SB100 bass. There are four laminated basswoods in this Shen. A bass like this is not too expensive ($2200), but it's very well regarded, and it's a very good bass. D'addario provides an alternative to those brands. There was a substantial price difference between these and offerings from Pirastro, Corelli, and The D'addario Kaplan strings are also top notch, far superior to cheap brands like Super Sensitive. Next time I need new strings, I might try them, as they are said to be an upgrade.
