Questions & Answers
Strings should not be cleaned with rubbing alcohol. This polish is intended for use on wood.
Personally, I would not do so. Both the bridge and the fingerboard can be cleaned with a soft cloth.
It has a faint odor of car wax or turpentine that dissipates as it dries. It isn't too gleaming and has no effect on the instrument's patina.
It does not, in fact. However, if it appears to be in poor condition, I would replace it.

After several years of heavy use, my fiddle had become dingy and unsightly. In the summer, I play outside, where it's hot and humid, and I sweat, and so on. All I have to do now is make sure the sound post doesn't fall over while I'm working on it:.
Five out of five stars. It's a fantastic cleaner that's completely safe to use on varnished instruments. br>br>Amazon sent this in a shoddy package - A small glass bottle was tossed around in an obscenely large box with no protective packaging inside, but it was undamaged. I'm not going to take away a star because it wasn't the Hill company's fault; it was a Prime box. br>br>On my violin, this polish worked like a charm! My violin wasn't particularly filthy, but it worked well for routine cleaning. I cleaned it with a soft rag. I've also used it to polish a couple of my students' instruments that were in desperate need of attention, and it worked perfectly. br>br>It doesn't leave the instrument gleaming, but it does a good job of deep cleaning it, and you'll notice a big difference once you're done. It also has a pleasant odor, which I enjoy. Woody with a faintly floral aftertaste that isn't overpowering. scent.
This varnish is one of my favorites. It enhances the beauty of my violin and gives it a brilliant shine. As long as you rub it in with slow circular motions, there will be no residue. It doesn't smell great, but that's to be expected, and it's not too bad. On a piece of cloth, a small amount is all that is required. Overall, I'd recommend it, and my violin appreciates the shine.
This did a great job of removing the rosin from my electric violin. I didn't realize how deeply caked on my rosin fallout was until I used this stuff to clean it off. It's in like-new condition! Please keep in mind that when I bought this, I was looking for string cleaner. It was my fault for not paying attention to what I was reading. The varnished parts of the violin, not the strings, should be cleaned with this method. The solution is turpentine-based. I'm not sure how mistaking it for string cleaner would affect your strings, but I wouldn't take the chance. String cleaner can be purchased separately.
It does have an odor, which some people are sensitive to and may not like while cleaning. The odor fades after a day or two for me, but the cleaning power outweighs the odor, which I don't mind. This cleaner is fantastic for my violins and violas, and I would highly recommend it.
Hill was suggested by a luthier in the United Kingdom. This polish was simple to apply and removed the sticky rosin film from my violin without damaging it. The wood was restored to its former glory! It'll also last quite a while- A few drops on a soft cloth were all I needed.
This product, according to our violin teacher, should be used at least once a month to wipe down the instrument. It performs admirably. It emits a strong odor immediately after use, but the odors dissipate after a few minutes of exposure to the air. It's something I'd recommend to anyone who cares about their instrument's cleanliness.
I've always had a lot of rosin buildup on my instrument, and I usually pay to have it cleaned professionally, but this stuff works like magic! I've never bought a better cleaner/polish.
