It's light and airy.
My daughter (16 years old) simply ties the ribbons around the viola, which are built into the case. Ribbons are preferred over Velcro by both she and her teacher because they are kinder to the instrument.
It's made of foam, but it's as tough as concrete. My case is one of my favorites, and I have complete confidence in it.

I like this case so much that I bought it for a second viola and also got the violin model. br>br>It's sturdy, looks great without being too flashy, and has a lot of storage, which you don't always get in oblong viola cases. It's also not too big, which is a plus because I'm 5'1" and have previously been overwhelmed by cases. br>br>I have a "fat-free" policy. 15. "bottomed" When other cases require me to go up a size and risk having too much vertical length, it accommodates a 5" instrument. It also works well with my 16" violas. The shape is suitable for a variety of body types. The ribbon ties are interesting, but if I'm carrying multiple shoulder rests (and you CAN in this case! ), I use one set to secure them. ) and tying up the neck with the other set. br>br>The music pocket can hold a lot of folders and rigid portfolios, and the balance is excellent whether you're carrying it on your shoulder or backpacking. br>br>Because I don't always want to lug around my extra bow case, I made a modification to add two more bows, which can be done with some careful measuring. I wish it had a string tube (which I'll probably add) and the same magnetic closures as the violin version, but those are just extras that aren't necessary for it to be a great case. I got a good deal on it, but I think it's worth the money even if you pay full price. I'm hoping to get a good deal of mileage out of this case.
This is an excellent argument. I bought the first one for my 16-inch viola, and then upgraded to a 16-3/8-inch viola. I kept using the new one because it fit perfectly. I was a little hesitant to use ribbons instead of velcro at first, but they're not difficult to work with. When I traveled by plane, this case fit perfectly in the overhead compartment (I did get early boarding to ensure there was enough room). )br>br>Continue reading: )br>br> After installing a Kreddle extra tall chinrest and cushioned collarbone pad on my 16 3/8 inch viola two years later, it no longer fit in my 16 inch case. I placed an order for a brand new16. I bought a 5 inch case in the hopes that it would fit, but it was too short to accommodate the tall chinrest, and the extra padding on the bottom didn't leave room for the collarbone pad. I'm sorry I had to return it; it's still lovely and sturdy, and it's light enough for me to carry around with me. The vast majority of people should be delighted with this purchase and should not hesitate to place an order.

This item has been returned to me. Pros: The case is attractive, the hygrometer is functional, and it is well constructed. Cons: It costs $60 to ship it back if you don't want it, it's bulky, and it feels more like a suitcase than a fine instrument case. Furthermore, the tip of the bow barely fits through the holding loop, giving the impression that the bow could easily snap if care is not taken when putting it in and out of the case. The main reason for return is its size, which I can't imagine myself carrying for the next 40 years. Because it is so long, it could be rolled and pulled if it had wheels. In addition, the included straps are too short to be used as a single strap from the top of the case to the bottom. If you don't mind these flaws, this is a lovely case with a lovely fabric that will last a long time.
This is one of my favorite cases. It has enough space for all of my belongings plus a few extras. It is both light and attractive. The hygrometer was broken when it arrived, but I don't mind because my previous case was so bad that this minor flaw is insignificant. Overall, the quality of the case appears to be good. I'd had it with crappy cases, and this one has made me happy.
This is a stunning piece of jewelry! My cats had "marked their territory" on my old case, which was thirty years old and had been handed down to me when I was in college. It was past time to let it go. My viola, on the other hand, is quite large, measuring 16 inches in length. 5 inches. I can put the instrument in the case without tying it up. In order for the block in the middle to fit, I'm working it looser. It is still one of my favorites. It is breathtaking. Oh, and my shoulder rest is too big to fit in the compartment- I placed it near the neck/scroll section.
Because of the price, I didn't expect much, but I'm glad I did. The quality is excellent, and it fits my 15-inch frame perfectly. It fits my 5inch viola perfectly and has enough room for my shoulder rest; it's also lightweight, which is exactly what I needed since I'm pregnant and need something light to carry while teaching. It didn't come with a carrying strap, which was the only drawback.
I've had to return this item twice because it was sent with a violin. My 15-inch viola is too big to fit in a violin case. When the second one arrived, it was still for a violin, so I returned the first. This item is clearly marked as being for viola in the description. It appears to be a great case, and I really wish I had gotten the right size, but I'm afraid I won't be able to trust myself to get the right size on the third try.
