Questions & Answers

Does Dobro have a preset?

I'm not sure what you mean when you say "set." There are two sweetened tunings designed specifically for the dobro, and if you don't want a sweetened tuning, simply choose the standard (equal temperament) tuning. It simply displays the note to which you are most similar, regardless of how your dobro is tuned. I removed all tunings except equal using the USB interface, so I don't have to worry about fat-fingering it into a funny mode. fingering the tiny buttons that are all jumbled up next to each other (this is still a sore spot for me!

Is it possible to tune a diatonic harmonica with this?

It would probably work, but because it lacks a microphone, it must be clipped to the harmonica, or at the very least be in contact with it. I believe that an iPhone app would be more convenient and less expensive. PanoTuner, for example, is a fantastic program.

Will this work with a pedal steel? My stroboflipled screen has died, and I don't have the funds to replace it. ?

It works well on my steel (2003 Sierra U12) in the vast majority of circumstances but has issues finding the note quickly on stages with loud subwoofers beneath. Nonetheless, it is strongly suggested!

Is it possible to use this tuner for open tuning, such as e, g, and so on?

The tuner has settings for a variety of instruments, and in the 'acoustic' setting for guitar, the key of each string is displayed as it is tuned. So, for example, if you want to drop d tuning, all you have to do is pluck the strings and tune them to your desired string setting.

Don't be fooled by the "sweetener" options--they're just that
3/5

It's just a regular (EXPENSIVE) tuner here. I purchased this (relatively expensive) tuner after learning about the Taylor guitar tuning adjustments and deciding that the price would be justified if the Taylor "adjustments" were built into the tuner (as this product claims). I've used a $10 snark clip to tune a few guitars. Then, using the Peterson with the Guitar Sweetener setting selected, I checked for the adjustments that it should have told me to tweak to achieve the Taylor tuning. Unfortunately for me and my wallet, this is not the case. THEREFORE, THERE IS NO DIFFERENCE. Every guitar tuned to standard with the $10 snark has the exact same tuning as the Peterson strobe when the guitar sweetener is turned on. This is a complete waste of money. I threw the packaging away too quickly and won't be able to get it back. Make sure you don't repeat the same error.

Reviewed with a lower rating: On stage, I no longer use this tuner

Also, the button design is a pain-in-the-neck. clamp of a small size 9/16/17 UPDATED I see that I'm not alone in my dissatisfaction from other reviews. After some additional practice, I've discovered that I only use this tuner at home. It's not meant to be used in a performance setting. I simply use an old StroboClip.

"Button, button, button, button, button, button, button, button, button, button Who's the one who has the button? I got this tuner with the same-day shipping

The tuner was repackaged and ready for a return/refund by the following evening, after two solid hours of fiddling with it. I'd read T. before placing my order. "How bad can his issues really be?" I reasoned after reading Hanson's product review. " despite the fact that I had already placed an order. I quickly discovered how serious the situation was. Everything he said in point two is correct. Three is correct, plus a little extra. Unless you remove the tuner from (in my case) the guitar and examine it under a bright light, the three operating buttons are literally impossible to feel or identify. R. Peterson's br>br>Peterson's R. Peterson's R. Peterson's R. Peterson's R. "Ergonomic" is a word that D people should look up. Working musicians "in the trenches" will find it impossible to use this tuner between (or even during) songs, especially in a darkened club or restaurant. Because the buttons have multiple functions, it's impossible to know if you're pressing them in the right order. Against my will, I was recalibrating, and there's even a ridge of (cosmetic? Along the top of the tuner, there's a strip of plastic that runs alongside the buttons. That plastic was frequently mistaken for any of the buttons by my fingertips. Is it possible to put the buttons on the front of the tuner, *facing* the musician? Add a few millimeters to the distance between the buttons? Raise their profile just a smidge above the surface of the tuner body? That'd be naaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa It's a brilliant design, but it's also a complete blunder. br>br>The "acoustic guitar" sweetener setting appeared to be less accurate than the standard, non-acoustic guitar setting. setting, sweetened There's a lot of extraneous junk on this tuner that I don't need or want, as others have mentioned on another website. Scotty, all you have to do now is tune me up. The tuner's pitch accuracy in non-musical situations is something I really appreciate. I've used a lot of Snarks and, because of their own peculiar flaws (esp'y an Achilles Heel of a chintzy ball), I can only give them two stars overall. br>br>I've used a lot of Snarks and, because of their own peculiar flaws (esp'y an Achilles Heel of a chintzy ball), I can only give them two stars overall. I'd been looking for a high-quality joint neck design for a while. constructed, and intelligently- The Peterson SC-100 is a well-designed product. It's not HD, is it? I could buy 5 or 6 Snark SN-100s for the price I paid. If it comes down to it, start with 1's and work your way through them over a few years. And, penny for penny, my gigs are a lot less stressful. br>br>UPDATE: br>br> Peterson emailed me today after I wrote to them last night. "There is a new firmware change that makes the buttons much easier to operate and less prone to accidental switching on/off due to visibility and other factors. " I'm not going to bother. Not because I'm obstinate, but because the issue is with the physical ergonomics of the buttons. a position Apples are one of the most popular fruits in the oranges. Also, if you have a new version of your product, why not contact Amazon and have the "old" version removed or re-listed? Is it possible to tell if you're running an older version of the software? All I wanted was to find a tuner that was accurate, durable, and logical to use. On Day One, you won't have to download any bytes.

Quick and precise: It's in a league of its own
5/5

Without a doubt, the best tuner money can buy. This updated version of the older clip style (of which I had several) has a better display, longer battery life, and the Power button issue mentioned in other reviews has long been resolved. This tuner is much faster and more accurate than standard models, and it also includes a number of "sweetening" programs that are especially useful if you play resonator guitar, pedal steel guitar, or a variety of other stringed and wind instruments. You can also program the Peterson to react to the range of your instrument: I play upright bass, among other instruments, and the StroboClip set for bass responds quickly and precisely. This tuner may be a little more expensive than others, but it is well worth it: I've tried almost every other tuner on the market as well.
