Because this is a chromatic tuner, it can be used on any stringed instrument as long as you know what notes each string should be tuned to and have a place to clamp it to on the headstock.
If only the E will display, I'd say it's a defective device. I have this tuner, and it is excellent; however, I would return it for a replacement.
The musical note A above middle C (also known as the Stuttgart pitch) has a frequency of 440 Hz and is used as a tuning standard for musical pitch.

However, in some situations, it can be difficult to see. I've got clip-on tuners all over the place. And I've owned a variety of clip-on tuners from various manufacturers. This one is adequate for the task at hand, but not exceptional. It's a good thing it's not too expensive. I like how it can be tilted and turned in different directions depending on the instrument and where it's attached. That said, I don't like how, when it's in tune, almost all of the colored lights turn off (as seen in the first image). (That's a tuned string. ) Furthermore, if you are in a brightly lit environment and need to quickly glance at the screen, the highly reflective material it is made of may cause you to become blinded. br>br>Apart from that, it's not too bad. This tuner is ideal for recreational musicians who want to unwind at home. Probably not if you're a professional musician who travels or performs on stage.
I like the graphics, but the screen is difficult to see in direct sunlight. All you see is the 'glass' itself because it reflects and refracts light. The three-way hinges are useful for positioning it on the back side of the head, but I keep having to re-position it (it's not you, it's me). Learn how to manipulate it so that it is in a good position at all times. Unlike the Snarks, it is compact when folded. Because they're bulky, I've broken three of them in the last few years. I got this type thinking it would be harder to snap the screen off because it has a little trouble reading high E and occasionally B (standard tuning at 440)br>I got this type thinking it would be harder to snap the screen off because it has a little trouble reading high E and sometimes B (standard tuning at 440)br>I got this type thinking it would That's how far it's gone. However, it would be nice if it was a little brighter.
I've used tuners made by two other companies. Regardless of how precise they were, one of them was difficult to read in bright light, and the other snapped off far too easily. I needed something that could be folded up small enough to fit in my guitar case without breaking. This one obviously met the criteria, but it also has the benefit of being much easier to read (and thus tune to) than the others. I wasn't looking to save money, but the price is not only reasonable, but it's also a great deal.
Because I'm new to the guitar world, I gave this a five-star rating because of the item's ease of use. It came with a battery already installed, so all I had to do was clamp it to the head of my guitar and begin tuning. For the price, it seems to be of decent quality!! I would have included images, but I am currently away from home at the time of this review. I'll post an update if I have any issues with this tuner, but so far it's working great!.
I've been a D'Addario customer for a long time - I've used their strings and accessories for decades, but I must say that this tuner is a letdown. The display is difficult to see in bright light, and it consumes batteries more quickly than any other tuner I've ever owned (and I've owned dozens). It functions normally in all other respects.
It is a low-cost product that is ineffective. The readout on this tuner is all over the place, and it's very inaccurate. It is unaffected by minor tuning key adjustments and will alternate between two notes while attempting to tune one string. It's especially bad on the high E and B strings, and all of my guitars have trouble telling the difference between them. You'll only be able to get close to in-depth research. The rest is up to your ears to figure out. You're better off just purchasing a higher-quality tune that works.
This guitar tuner is extremely accurate, and the graphics are crisp and clear from a variety of angles. There's no way you won't pick up on the way the indicator is set up, with bars above and below the string letter and arrows pointing in. My only complaint is that the on/off button should be placed on the side rather than facing the user. When I press it this way, I can't always get it to turn off; any overpressing turns it back on. I also wish the clip for classical guitars was a little larger.
To begin, I noticed that when I try to tune my guitar's A string, the screen alternates between E and A - This happens on all of my guitars, so I'm guessing it's a problem. Second, and most importantly, Take a look at it in the sunlight if you haven't already. It is completely useless. Even with polarizing sunglasses on, the screen was almost completely obscured - To tune, I needed to borrow someone else's guitar.
So - Overall, it accomplishes its goal - It tunes fine, but the display has a shaky A/E problem and isn't very good outside; or perhaps mine is broken.
