I'd say this is a great place to start

I'm a music composer and a professional guitarist as well, but I'm pretty new to lap steel playing. I like how heavy it is on my grip, and also how it provides great control and a stable tilt when playing my six string lap steel guitar compared to other slides I've been using. In terms of ceramics, glass or stainless steel, I was going to buy some cheap ones under $10 but ended up purchasing.

Since I'm new to lap steel, I think the pictures do not do it justice. I'm very pleased with it, and it actually comes in In the beginning, I thought it would have just come in bubble wrap or something like that, but it's actually a well-made slide.

I have fairly thin fingers, so this might not be the best choice for you.
