The limit isn't so much in terms of how much the product can hold, but rather in terms of how much drywall can hold with their product if it isn't installed directly on a stud or beam. These mounts will hold almost any guitar as long as it is securely fastened to a stud.
As far as I can tell, this hanger isn't designed for that purpose. If you're worried about stress, get a floor stand. If you're mounting this in drywall, make sure you use the proper hardware because falling off the wall could stress the entire guitar.
DRYWALL SCREWS WERE JUST USED IN A STUDY BY ME. MOUNTS ON THE DRYWALL MAY NOT BE STRONG ENOUGH.
To improve stability, I always prefer to mount to a stud. I did, however, mount it with wall board screws rated for at least 50 pounds. A great deal depends on the instrument you're backing. You don't want a valuable instrument to break.

These new ones have a rubber sleeve that can go over the two rails that your guitar rests on for additional thickness if your headstock sits too low in the rails. I had an older model of these with a wood wall mount that never failed, but these new ones have a rubber sleeve that can go over the two rails that your guitar rests on for additional thickness if your headstock sits too low in the rails. A metal triangular shape has been used in place of the wood for mounting with three screws. The old model had a feature that allowed you to rotate the hanger 180 degrees, which I never used and didn't understand why you would want to do so. This new unit still allows rotation, but only to a maximum of 180 degrees. The Seller promptly responded to my email, and I am extremely pleased with the shipping, which came all the way from the United Kingdom.
There isn't enough room. I would not purchase this item again. It's an interesting concept, but it's not worth the money; I prefer some of the previous hangars I've used. br>br>First and foremost, and this is critical. GET THE HARDWARE OUT OF THE WAY! In drywall, the anchors are terrible. I knew it wouldn't be able to hold my bass as I was putting it in. So, I was very careful during the initial hanging and, sure enough, my bass pitches forward in less than ten seconds. Get some EZ Anchors and you'll never have to worry about your baby pulling out of the wall again. I did put one in a stud, but the screws are far too small to support any guitar with a single screw. br>br>It appears to me that the opening is quite small. There are rubber slip-on cushions that I assume are for securing euks, but my bass and guitar barely fit after I removed them. br>br>Also, when it arrived, the packaging was open. I believe it's because of the untaped inside tab on the plastic box. It didn't appear that the screws had been used before. br>br>I'm not going to return them just to save time, but I'm also not going to buy any more.
After three months on the wall, the rubber along the catch comes undone. Not just this one, but every single one of them. Poor, poor quality, and not a good price-to-quality ratio.
Trying to save money is something I'm guilty of. I bought the Donner hangars because they were less expensive at the time, but that was a huge mistake. They are not in favor of a Telecaster. They slip through and land on the tunining peg because the Tele's head stock is too narrow. After that, I went out and purchased these. They support all of my guitars, and the locking mechanism is a million times better than the cheap Donners. I should have done that the first time. Don't squander your cash on knockoffs. This is what you need.
The item depicted in the image will not be sent to you. Because the product image showed the now-rare, old style hangers, I ordered the Hercules GSP39WB Auto Grab Wall Mount Guitar Hanger (Pack of 2) from this UK seller. I needed two to match the ones I already had. After waiting weeks for the shipment to arrive in the United States, I was disappointed to discover that they were the NEW style ones that I could have picked up at my local Guitar Center 2 miles away.
Poor QC. Because the welds were off, both of the items I received were crooked. Because the clamps are at an angle, the post must be cut at that angle as well. It was welded on to the side after it was welded on. As a result, the hanger appears to be crooked. That was a deal-breaker for me, especially since both were off. Apart from that, the game ran smoothly. Mrs. Lincoln has signed this letter.
I had to look into these because Gibson recommended them for nitro finishes. They're very safe and secure, and they make your guitar feel safe as well. It would be nice if it were a little closer to the wall, but that's a minor quibble. It doesn't get any better than this.
These products were delivered on time. They work well and are simple to use.
