The foot rest I have used for the last month didn't appear to be in danger of collapsing, even at the tallest setting. I am 6'5" and 230 lbs. There is no chance for it to slide around, even when the surface is hard or tiled. This bed frame has 5 positions of adjustment and a range of 5" between the shortest and tallest positions. I have been using this while sitting in a standard height chair and a drum throne, as well as piano benches.

The footrest is easy to adjust for height and is nice and sturdy. I gave my Dad a Yamaha keyboard bench to use as a seat and set the dial to the lowest setting. The fact that Dad didn't hunch up while playing his guitar thrilled me, since he's pretty tall. A part of that had to do with the music being too low, but much of it had to do with him tilting his foot back to raise his guitar, which was not only not enough height, but causing his back pain. The footrest folds up into an extremely compact size when folded up, but it is also small enough that it can be left at the correct height all the time without having to be adjusted every time. I am very pleased with it.

This type of device is available on Amazon, most at a lower price. Hercules and Ultimate products, on the other hand, are never criticized. The sole reason I bought this one was because of Hercules' Besides the rubber feet, the scissors are solid and have not bent, and the rubber foot pat sticks to my shoes. I like that the Hercules foot rest has rubber feet that stay in place well on solid surfaces. My overall experience with the purchase has been very positive.
