Questions & Answers

What happened when I bought the Planet Waves end pins and found that there were no plastic washers or felt washers inside the box? Would you mind sending me an email, ?

My deepest condolences go out to you. From a neoprene washer, they are really easy to make. It is a little easier to put on and take off the strap if you change the hole and slit in it. The points on the pins should be parallel to the guitar in order to prevent accidental removal. Now that I have these strap buttons, I have replaced all my strap buttons.

The screws on these are too long to be installed on a ukulele, are they?

A bit of overlong screw may be needed.

During the drilling process for my acoustic dreadnought, I had an endpin hole drilled- How do I attach a guitar strap to it? Do I need any other hardware? I appreciate it! ?

There is no need to translate further. It is also common for people to attach one on the back of the neck close to the body, but it isn't

You no longer have to worry about dropped ukuleles! I think this is a great It has happened to me umpteen times that the strap curves 180 degrees and comes off the button, resulting in either a clumsy catch or instrument damage if not careful
5/5

The ukes mounted on a Fender Koa Tenor Nohea Uke without issue. Since there are 2 sides to this uke, there is a chunk of wood at the bottom where they meet. feature one piece sides without bottom support. Aside from the safety aspect, I also get a little more volume and sustain since I am not pinching the neck Located in the middle of the neck support directly facing the headstock, the second button was mounted there as well. It is extremely important to drill the holes at exactly 90 degrees or the button will not sit flat, causing it to rotate, and then you are back where you started. Having a problem should not be an issue if you are replacing an existing button. Also, I ordered a Zealux brown cotton, linen and leather one inch strap from Amazon, which is also perfect.

Measuring twice and drilling once are both good methods
5/5

It is an elegant design with a perfect balance It was important to me that there would be no issue drilling into the neck for a strap pin, so I checked with my guitar manufacturer, Larivee. A hole was recommended for a certain location, after which it was just a matter of laying out the hole and drilling it. As a result, I used a 5/64 in bit to drill the pilot hole and drilled the pilot hole to the appropriate depth.

It provides some level of guitar strap security in an excellent, simple manner
5/5

As an experienced user of guitar strap locking mechanisms, I found that Schaller's don't work well with most guitar straps unless you enlarge (cut) the opening at the ends to tighten the shaft or attach some other piece to your existing strap to attach the locks. The Gibson ES-150 I have was purchased in 1977 During an earlier period of my playing, I was accustomed to making do with a Yamaha 347 (1982) that came with guitar strap buttons that were eye-shaped like these. I found these to be plenty secure to meet my needs at the time. I purchased a couple sets to add to my other guitars after seeing them offered as a separate product. Among the tasks they perform are The security they provide is comparable to any guitar strap I have and I am happy with them. I'm sure there are some guitarists who will not find these adequate to hold their guitars, perhaps due to how they handle them, but for me, they fit great and I am very pleased.

It's a brilliant design for those who dread strap locks, and it's a simple solution for those who hate them
5/5

It must first be said that I have a dislike for I think haters are a bit short of the mark here. A set has never met me in one way that I liked. It has only ever happened to me when I've dropped an instrument that had strap locks. It is the case that every instrument I've owned with strap locks has been subjected to a gravity attack caused by the very device which was intended to prevent such a thing. There tends to be an unscrewing problem with Sommer type strap locks. When you install locktite nuts to your vehicle, you are compressing them against a compressible material (leather, nylon, etc). Since this material compresses as well, the locktite won't be very On top of that, there are only a couple threads on the slim little nut, and if they aren't completely lined up with the other half, they will wear very quickly (especially when they need to be tightened It is common for Duncan type people to suffer from non-functioning A grimy lock could lead to 'positive lock syndrome' if it is not cleaned and lubricated regularly. Furthermore, unless all of your instruments are equipped with the same brand of lock buttons, your strap will only work with the instruments that are compatible. Finally, we have the metals - There is a metallic clank to the sound. That's not fun. Now let's take a look at the cost. This little Elliptical End Pin is brilliant, but why is it so? Unlike strap locks, these devices are not attached by straps. The widest points of the antenna should be oriented horizontally when they are installed As you should, you will have to simply rotate the strap 90 degrees to engage the instrument when putting on or taking off your strap. In the process of reaching for your beer onstage, you are unlikely to do this inadvertently. When it comes to design, sometimes the simplest is the best. Then there's the fact that they're pretty The downsides? As for the screws supplied with these, I will admit they are a little short, however, I would also say that there is no reason not to use the screws holding in the original strap buttons, provided they fit evenly and Use of smaller or shorter screws won't solve the problem if they don't- Even if the screws cut new threads, you're pretty much in the black if you do that I guess I screwed up. I also used the factory felt washers and screws that came with the factory buttons because the washers they come with are too small. They can be a bit tricky to put on and take off when they have a brand new strap (which is a good thing). It is possible that the tight fit could increase the wear on the strap, especially if it is made from cheap material. You will need to develop a habit of always checking the positive seat of the strap on older straps, as you would with any traditional strap button, but it's very easy to do, and is therefore less likely to slip than a traditional strap It requires just as much diligence to keep mechanical strap locks secure and functioning as they do to ensure they remain functional. Having strap locks doesn't mean that you can fix a problem by yourself - you'll have to grab some tools instead. In either case, it should be either modified or replaced It's hard not to feel safe when you're feeling poorly. The Elliptical End Pins from PE are easy to use. Just place the strap where it should be and you are ready to go. Then if you are one who does anything backwards you will love this post. Your strapped instrument is being used as a hula hoop or flipping across your body for a lot of your moves You may be able to use some hula hoops onstage, but they probably won't protect your instrument from gravity goblins or inertia monkeys. If either of these antics is part of your day-to-day routine, perhaps a permanently attached strap or therapy would be better for you. I have since ordered several more sets of these items to use on all of my basses since writing the review above. Metal on metal strap locks are too old-fashioned for me and I can't imagine what life would be like if we went back to traditional strap buttons.

This is an excellent As a result, I usually travel with my guitars in a gig bag with a strap attached
4/5

To wash the Grolsch beer, I use the old beer washer trick. The best thing about it is that it doesn't cost a thing. The body of some guitars can move around in their hard cases, but it is unlikely that the strap would fit in the case. Since I am not a fan of any of the mechanical strap locks that are available, I looked for a more secure option that I could use without having to fiddle with the Grolsch washers every time I took It seems to work well with these little buggers. It's easy to put on and take off, but pretty secure when you're Neither washers nor a strap lock are as secure as a strap button but they are much easier to use and way more secure.

Saves the guitar, but not your data

What an elegant solution! I thought as I looked at them. My Epi Les Paul Custom 1955 received them, and I put them on it. It was mounted perpendicular to the strap slot with the ellipse perpendicular to the ellipse. As I leaned over the PA to turn it on yesterday, I hit the cement floor with the guitar and it broke off a piece of wood on the front. My heart was broken, as you can guess. You need a washer over the strap for these endpins to work, so skip the washer. My bass also has one of these installed, and I have been lucky a couple of times where the strap has slipped beneath the ellipse of the pin and fell, but I caught The washer over the strap is going back on my instruments, even though I hate to do it. Make life easier with a robust solution so that you don't have to deal with heartbreak.
