I hate to write a negative review for something that received a lot of positive feedback, but these were poor knockoffs. I just finished a ten-city tour across the United States. Prior to this, I replaced my old graphite strat bridge mod from the 1990s with these because the screws (not the bridge piece) on my old set were rusted and gunked up. However, with the old set, I never had any trouble breaking strings. Regardless, I was popping strings with the new set every night (at the bridge) to the point where I had to switch to my backup guitar as my primary guitar. I'd had it with you, and I'd had it with you. These have to be a carbon copy of the original graphite set. I'm removing mine and tossing them in the trash. I'll keep this brand in mind so that I don't have to deal with them again. (I have video proof that one night I broke a new string while tuning BEFORE the first song even started. ).
Because the saddles are shorter, the springs that come with them are too small, and the original springs don't work, they are held in place solely by string tension. That's odd, and it's not the way they're supposed to work. By moving it too far, I risk flattening the tone. Aside from that, one of the saddle threads is extremely difficult to turn and flexes my allen key, which is concerning for a $40 guitar investment, especially since my old fender saddles were arguably just fine because they were so new. I'm going to be obsessed with it until I find the right springs! Finally, I bought these to go with the TUSQXL nut, which is incredible.
If your guitarist doesn't want to wear broken strings, they look a perfect compliment to these flat black strings, and they sound a lot better with a thicker design. They're also a good vest if you like to play faster, to sound clearer and to have stronger bones.
I recently purchased a used Fernandes Strat copy in order to take advantage of its sustainer system, and while it provided the sounds I desired, the guitar was in poor condition. The saddles were very worn down, and the guitar didn't hold tune well, so I decided to try these Graph Tech saddles, and the tuning has improved. Finally, I believe the tuners should be upgraded, but these are helping; additionally, the previous saddles were an eyesore, so these saddles improved the overall appearance of my guitar, and I had no trouble installing them. It could just be my imagination, but I think the new saddles make the guitar sound a little bit better. I will point out that they use a different screw than most saddles, but it does come with the appropriate Allen wrench, so it's a minor quibble. I would highly recommend these for a quick and easy upgrade on your Strat or other S-series guitar. A guitar in the style of.
Tuning stability and intonation control have greatly improved. I also used GraphTech nuts and Fender locking tuners, which means the strings will stay in tune, and instead of replacing them when they break (which will never happen), I'll probably replace them because they're crusty. I've used GraphTech nuts and bridge saddles on other guitars (Les Pauls of various types), and they've made a significant difference. If you're building or upgrading, these must be taken into account - They have a significant impact.
It's a huge improvement over the stock saddles. With my band, I play my electric guitar quite aggressively, and I've cut my pinky on the stock Fender vintage saddles that came with my guitar on a few occasions. I significantly improved the feel and sound of my guitar by simply changing saddles and spending a few minutes fine-tuning my intonation. The graphite adds a bit of warmth to the guitar's sound, which it lacked previously. These are a fantastic alternative to the stock picks that come with the guitar and make it look even better. Setting these up exactly how I wanted them was a breeze. If you're not sure how to set up your intonation, just look it up on YouTube.
My strat's bridge pieces cut into my palm far too often (I've played other styles of guitar for over 40 years - so this old dog was having trouble picking up a new trick)br>br>these have sunken set screws for height, so that's no longer an issue)br>br> (The fact that the string glides over them more smoothly is a nice bonus, but my guitar was already in pretty good tune and intonation).
These are incredible saddles. They're for my Bullet Mustang, so I got them. They have a significant impact on the feel and durability of the product. They give the guitar a more substantial and resonant feel. I've always been pleased with Graph Tech parts, and they feel great in my hands. If you're modding a Bullet Mustang, get these. You'll be glad you did. After weeks of attempting to properly intonate the guitar, the guitar sounded better and was more tuned with these saddles roughly installed than it did with the stock saddles. I put these in with the tusq string trees because the old ones were catching the strings and pulling them out of tune. I'm very pleased with the outcome.
