This nut (model PT-1) was purchased by me. 5001- 00) for a double-cutaway Fender Stratocaster guitar with a long neck This nut is designed to fit Stratocasters and other guitars that have a similar shape.
I haven't decided yet. I bought mine to make a Tele replica, but the nut slot was too deep, so I used the string trees instead. I just made a nut out of a bone in the end. Please accept my apologies for not being of greater assistance.
The Tusq nut could be placed in the neck slot with the high E slot facing the opposite direction as on a right-handed guitar. This nut was purchased to be installed in my Strat guitar, but the string slots were cut too deep. Instead, I chose to use a brass nut.
010- 046 is an excellent choice.

as well as string trees that are thin and inexpensive. Upgrade for the sake of yourself. br>br>Because the nut is slightly longer than 42mm, you can find the perfect center point. Then, if any end is hanging over the fret board's edge, file it down slightly. It only takes a few minutes. It took me 15 minutes to center and file them down perfectly. br>br>On my Squier Bullet and Squier Strat, the pieces look fantastic. If your guitar's nut is badly cut or made of thin, flimsy plastic, I highly recommend this product. In addition, the cost is excellent. I purchased two and installed them both. The color shift from white to black is also fantastic.
Simply take your time, sanding things slowly and carefully while measuring frequently. It took me about 30 minutes to get it just right, but I would sand a little, check, sand, check, and so on. br>br>To put on the High and Low E strings, you put in the nut, tighten them a little (they don't have to be in tune, but they do need to be tightened so the string is taut), then hold at the 3rd fret and measure at the 1st fret with a feeler gauge. You should have while holding the third position. On the low-side, there's a tenth of an inch of clearance. The first fret is on the E side, and the second fret is on the F side. 006" in high-definition Any auto parts store will sell you feeler gauges. br>br>All you have to do now is take off a little bit on either side at a time and you'll be fine. It's preferable to take too little so that you can take a little more than it is to take too much and be completely out of luck.
Obviously, it's a graphtech, so it's a good product, but the nut in the picture isn't the one that comes with the kit. The included nut is a fender curved style with a flat bottom nut slot tab. While this will probably suffice for my needs, I would prefer a flat bottom, as shown, because I want the nut to make as much contact with the instrument as possible. But if this doesn't work out for my needs, it'll end up in a different guitar.
The nut was essentially a drop-in fit, with only minor sanding required to achieve a tight fit. Only one of the string trees is used on my guitar. There was no improvement in tone, maybe a little brighter, but that is very subjective; there were no string breakage issues, and tuning stability when using the tremolo was excellent.
Thank you to this vendor, as well as everyone else who goes above and beyond to assist us shoppers during these trying times.
For my Strat knockoff double necked guitar, this is a great replacement nut. Tonally superior and a great fit. I'm really happy with them, and I'm going to use them to replace the nuts and string retainers on all of my Strat guitars.
The plastic nut on my China Squier Affinity Strat needs to be replaced. This was the closest match, so I purchased it. Not by a long shot. Will make use of the string trees and treat it as a learning opportunity. By the way, Music Gifts Plus is a great vendor.
These are used on every Fender Telecaster, Strat, and clone that I build. Reduces friction, extending the life of the strings and ensuring that they remain in tune. It was well worth the time and money.
