Questions & Answers

Is this something that could be used on a 12-string electric guitar?

Yes. Purchase a nut that is at least the same width as the neck. Sanding can be used to adjust the height of the new nut.

Is it compatible with the Yamaha APX700ii? 12 12- acoustic guitar with a thinline cutaway acoustic guitar natural?

A list of known-good products may be available from the manufacturer. compatible models, but the only way to be sure is to measure the existing nut carefully and accurately and compare it to the dimensions listed. The dimensions were exactly as listed for me: There is no difference between the two. I took out the old nut to ensure a precise measurement, but your results may vary.

For my Yamaha 12 string, I'm looking for a bone nut. 1 3/4". I can't seem to find that size anywhere; do you have it?

You could sand down a slightly larger nut to make it fit.

Is there a bone in this?

It's not a bone that you're looking for. It's a type of plastic known as Tusq.

It really works. I had to buy it twice because I cut it too short the first time. (IT WAS MY FAULT. ) When it comes out of the package, it's almost the right height. If you don't already have one, I recommend purchasing a cheap caliper and measuring your current nut. Make that size, and "adjust the truss rod before removing the strings," as well. Replace the old one with a new one that does not require any glue, and double-check everything. Allow for a few days of rest before re-purposing. Examine the collarbone. Play for a couple of days. Loosen the strings and glue in the nut once you're sure.

There's a whole new tone to it

I used this product to replace the plastic nut on my Epiphone D212 acoustic guitar; no modifications to the tusq nut dimensions were required, and it fit perfectly in the previous slot. I must admit, I thought this was a mellow instrument with plenty of attack, but the tusq made every note jump and seem alive. steel strings, and the sound is still crisper, brighter, and has a better resonance. I can only imagine how a set of regular phosphor bronze strings would sound! br>br>Highly recommended.

This is an excellent match

This was a perfect match for my Guild D25- With minimal trimming, the 12 from 1987 works perfectly. This nut outperforms the original by a long shot.
