Questions & Answers

Do you think this will work in a Fender modern player Telecaster?

Without a doubt. I recommend that you use this. The 5 is a direct replacement from the manufacturer The switch from Fender is a 4-way switch. This is for the Fender Modern Player Telecaster with three pickups, and requires a 5-way switch Here is the part you're looking for the way selector.

When used in conjunction with 500k pots and pickups, are there any problems?

In general, 500K pots are used with humbuckers, so no. If you added a 500K pot to a single coil, it wouldn't sound like a bright, single coil anymore, but a muted, There is no need to rewire this, since it is simply a replacement for a Fender Stratocaster. There have been some recently that were humbucker single single (bridge HB only, HB split, middle, idle and neck, and neck), or twins (bridge, HB split, Thus, no this switch will not cause problems with these pots and the proper pickup, so the answer to your question is no.

In the wrong place at the wrong time This is a Mexican product
3/5

The outcome has been determined by a roll of the dice. Fortunately, most people seem to have gotten lucky. As soon as I took it out of the package, it worked fine. There was no visible defect in it, and it was properly indexed. I would like to point out that it is made in Mexico. I discovered that the timing was off after installing it in the guitar. There is a problem with the alignment of the blade and the pins. No pickup could be made at position 5 (neck pick up only). The fourth position is middle and bottom (The neck pickup) worked fine. Position 5 works the same way as position 4 but engages both pickups, not just the neck one. As is the case with the switch top, the switch indexes into the 5th position just fine. I actually wired in a Chinese switch I found in the parts bin at the time, and it works My entire guitar-building and repair career has spanned more than 20 years and this is the first time I have seen a bad Fender switch out of the box. As soon as it's installed, you cannot return it. If you are looking for a switch with better quality control, I recommend finding another device. My order for a vintage CRL switch to replace it has since been placed. The latter is more expensive, but the former is made in the United States. It probably would have been better to just do that in the first place instead of wasting 10 bucks.

The product works well, but if you aren't comfortable with soldering or working with electronics you may want to skip trying it out
5/5

You will need to take pictures so that you can remember how the wires are routed and how they are controlled, since none of the diagrams on the web were even close to what I did. If you accidently melt a wire with the soldering iron, have an extra wire at hand.

Whether you are looking to assemble your own guitar or want to connect a guitar to a speaker, this 5 way switch will help
5/5

If you're looking to build your own guitar like I did, then this 5 way switch will be perfect for you. The switch does not require a lot of effort unless you are planning on swapping out pickups and potentiometers in addition. If you have a Squier strat or similar, you don't need to do anything to it other than swap it out. With this switch, you have a more "positive" clicking sensation when you switch positions compared to a cheaper switch. In order for my strat pickguard to fit properly, I had to file the opening a little wider, but it wasn't a big deal and only took a few minutes to do It takes ten You will need to know how to solder to install this.

I installed it on my Squier Stratocaster in 1984 and it worked great
5/5

I have read that an excellent portion of the Stratocaster parts can be swapped with It's been 20 years since I last saw my childhood guitar, which sat behind a dresser for two decades. It was a switch I needed, and I decided to give it a try. I expected it to be different from the one in my guitar, but I still found it to be weird. I was able to fit it without any It looked like the holes were You did a great job. There was a difference in the wiring pattern, so I had to look up an Internet wiring diagram for that type of My search for a diagram of this particular type of selector switch led to a diagram of this style. Having rerouted the wires and soldered a little, this worked out well and my guitar sounds great There was no switch in the Squier, but the switch in this one is much better quality. At first I did it without a diagram, but then I realized I did it wrong, so I had to redo it. Getting the Squier to scream for you is easy peasy with the right diagram! Having made this choice, I'm really happy with it.

It's a great replacement for an original Fender
5/5

It is recommended. A 20-year-old Chinese Squier's switch was replaced with a quieter one. As well as the pots, a capacitor with 0 volt was replaced and the capacitor with 250k CTS. It is a Cornel Dublier orange drop of 077uF. A copper shield is added, and the wiring is upgraded to 18 gauge The output jack has been replaced with a Pure Tone output jack with a I was amazed at the improvement night and day and the sound of the cheap squier is very convincing. As a result of the shielding, the level of noise and hum has been significantly reduced. Rather than static noise when you jump up and down while playing, there is now no static noise at all. You might want to consider replacing these components before upgrading your pickups!.

This is a significant improvement over the box type Asian switch
5/5

This is an OEM 5 way switch of excellent quality made by Fender. The Squier Asian switch that I replaced the failed, cheap box style switch with is a vast improvement. At every position, there is a positive "click".

My MIM strat 5 has been replaced with a fully functional replacement A switch with four ways
5/5

On my MIM strat, I installed this switch quite easily. This was a replacement for the original which made a scratching noise when switching between pickups. It does just what it's supposed to do. The part number is the same I now have a strat that sounds as new as if it were brand new. The complaints are not valid.

The device stays in place and works well
5/5

For a cheap silvertone strat, I used this to replace a three-way switch. As I played, the old one kept shifting positions because it had gotten so floppy. It was easy to change out and fit perfectly. Having to search online for a wiring diagram was critical since the pinout for this switch was completely different from the one I was replacing, but the conversion was simple. In case of a standard strat-style guitar with SSS pickups and a three-way switch, you may be able to use this five-way with a little research if you know what you're doing.
