Questions & Answers
These tubes are a great place to start, and they'd be the best choice if your bass amp is a combo amp, as they have less microphonics than other tubes.
Yes, these would be a good fit for your Marshall because they are shorter plates with less microphonics. They also have a pleasant sound.

In my Marshall DSL40C, these tubes sound fantastic. I'm very pleased with the improvement over stock tubes.
As it should be in business.
Begin with Sweet Tubes.
These are 12ax7 preamp tubes with short plates that produce a smooth brake up while maintaining a tight bass response. br>br>I have the Mullard long plate, which is also incredibly clear and has a tight bass response. The length of internal shielding is used to determine the difference between the two. The longer is said to have microphonic issues, but this has never happened to me with a Mullard tube. br>br>To power my Marshall 1959 SLP, I use NOS EL34 Mullard and Mullard small plate CV4004/12AX7 in my preamp and couldn't be happier with the tone. If you want to retune any Marshall amp, these are a great option. br>br> I've used JJ and Solvtech, and while they both have their own distinct personalities, I prefer Mullard for my Marshall amps.
